Cake, frosting, tiny astronaut... and a splash in the tub to finish it all off. 🚀🎂

I love how much variety we can fit into one first birthday session. We start with portraits, move into the cake smash, and finish with my little clawfoot tub -- which is often just as much fun as the cake.

Parents and siblings are always welcome to jump in during first birthday sessions. We can do simple family portraits, photos with just mom or dad, sibling photos -- whatever combinations are important to you.

Cake smash sessions are available in my Niantic, Connecticut studio or in your home, and booking about 2-3 months before baby's first birthday gives us plenty of time to plan.

This woven dreamcatcher bowl is one of the props I can bring along for an in-home newborn session, along with the wraps, backdrops and everything else we need to create your gallery.

This is where an in-home newborn session gets really fun. 🤍

We can create all of my usual newborn setups right in your home, but we can ALSO use the things that make your home yours -- like baby's nursery and, of course, the four-legged siblings. 🐾

This session had a little bit of everything: baby, mom and dad, both pups, her nursery, and even a fun little world traveler setup.

Same gown, completely different look. ✨

This is the same handmade gown from the first post, but with backlighting and a little creative editing, we were able to turn it into something completely different.

That's one of the things I love about starting studio + beach maternity sessions in my Niantic studio. We have time to create several different looks indoors before heading just a couple minutes away to finish at the beach.

If you're planning maternity photos in Connecticut, you don't have to decide between studio and outdoor. You can have both.

From the studio to this... just two minutes down the road. 💙

Having such a beautiful Connecticut beach practically next door to my studio means we can create polished studio maternity portraits and then head outside for the sky, water and movement of a beach session -- all in the same evening.

Studio + beach has easily been my most popular maternity session option this year, and I completely understand why.

We always start in my Niantic studio while everyone is fresh, then head just two minutes down the road to the beach for a completely different look. You get the best of both without having to choose -- and there's no additional charge over my regular outdoor maternity session pricing.

All of this was photographed at home too.

This sweet girl looked so pretty in the soft rosy pinks, and I love how much variety we were able to create without her family ever having to leave the house.

Before every newborn session, families fill out a visual questionnaire so I know the colors, poses and setups they love. Then I plan everything ahead of time and, for an in-home session, pack it all up and bring it with me.
