had to post the second half of these photos before my trip!

I don’t drink but I had a lot of fun with the creativity aspect of this! I love trying new things and doing something different every once in a while to see where it takes me.

I think that might just be my personal challenge for my packing trip over the next two weeks, capture things I wouldn’t usually capture and give a new perspective of the world around me. I used to do fun photography challenges a lot way back in high school when it was just me and Bandy, maybe it’s time I get back to it? I am super looking forward to the next two weeks where I can capture what I want and have no expectations, I will make sure to post at least once about it on here!

That being said, if you message me I probably won’t respond for at least a few days so keep that in mind! And if you want to keep up on more of my adventures such as this big pack trip, you gotta follow sarah gable | horses + hiking , my personal account that I spam my adventures and the horses on🀎

loving the details latelyπŸ“Έ

I love detail shots, it’s one of my favorite things to capture. I love noticing the things that most people don’t, freezing in time the small details that get taken for granted.

Detail shots invoke gratitude for the things that we don’t usually notice, but are always there. To finally appreciate the beauty of the small things that only God pays attention to.

I’m especially thankful for beautiful horses lately🀎

1 peter 4:10

this is such a good verse for those of us who run small businesses.

everybody has gifts. things they are better at than most, unique skills and talents that set them apart. God calls us to use these things to serve others, and that’s what I aim to do through Rust & Range Photography.

I know how important memories are. I know what it feels like to wish you had just a few more photos with someone, something, or some place, that you will never see again.

my grandpa was a photographer. so is my aunt. my dad bought the camera I use today, originally for himself. photography is in my blood, a gift from God.

and that’s why I love it so much. I love taking a million pictures of Bandy, the mountains, me and cameron or my friends. not in a fake way, but to capture those memories before it’s too late. because once they pass, you’ll never get them back.

and 1 peter 4:10 is why I choose to use this passion for others. I love to see people cherish the season of their life that they are only in for right now. I love watching the bond between people, and with their horses. seeing God’s goodness in other peoples lives, and freezing it time for them love long after that moment passes.

I pray that my business continues to bring joy and thanksgiving to others, offering something that will increase in value the further they get from that moment.

there’s just nothing better than using what God has given you to capture His goodness and make others happy🀎✝️

Iβ€˜m a photographer, butttttβ€¦πŸ«£

β€’ I’m a little socially awkward

β€’ I still get nervous during/heading to photoshoots

β€’ my gear sucks.
my camera is over 10 years old, and I desperately need new everything.

β€’ I still feel like I don’t know what I’m doingπŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

β€’ I have the memory of a goldfish.
so when you combine that with the social awkward and nervousness sometimes I forget what cool ideas I had and end up standing there quietly trying to rememberπŸ˜…

β€’ I’m secretly really bad about getting my own photos done.
There’s not even a single family photo of my fam from when I was growing up. Not even one. But I’ve at least managed to get branding photos done yearly of just myself😩

β€’ I’m just a girl✌🏼
so please don’t expect me to be perfect, and use this as a reminder to have grace with whoever you choose to be your photographer! In an industry where only the perfect gets shown, this is your reminder that we all have our flaws🀎

photographers, whats something about yourself that you usually *avoid* telling your clients?πŸ‘€

β€’RD Ranch Versatility Horsesβ€’
β†Ÿ Nine Mile Falls, Washington

Getting to tag along with RD Ranch as they moved their herd through the timber to new pasture was so fun! This family was exactly what you expect out of this industry. Hard working, efficient, and kind.

What started out as a dairy farm during the great depression, they now have been raising quality beef for generations. In the past 30 years that has included bison, too. wish I would’ve seen those guys while I was there!

On top of staying busy year-round with these livestock, RD Ranch Versatility Horses breeds and trains horses for versatility. Teresa even offers training clinics and equine first aid classes across the US. She also is a nutritionist who creates speciality diets based on hair samples, pretty cool!

Larry, who was raised on the ranch by his dad Howard, wanted to raise his kids the same way he lived. So he picked up extra work and made ends meet to keep the lifestyle alive for his family. He wanted to be rich in life, not money.

Unfortunately, being located right outside of Spokane, that might not be an option for the next generations due to the large amount of development happening in the area. That’s why I find it so important to support local ranchers and keep food local🀎

oh the peace I feel in the mountainsβ›°οΈπŸ€Ž

one of my favorite things to do when I see old places like this across the west is daydream.

who first discovered this incredible place? were they as in awe of it as I am?

was there once a home here, way back in this canyon? did they gather cows and push them into this valley?

I wonder if it looked any different back then? or what stories to people have about this place from before my time?

and this is another part of why I love photography. this moment will never exist again.

a couple hundred years ago they had no way to freeze a moment in time, to tell a story in the click of a button.

maybe in a couple hundred more years, they will see a photo that outlived the last of what once existed here, and will daydream about it the same way I do.

ways I honor God in my business

β€’ I pray over everything. I pray for my clients, over our session, before posting, and that I reach the right people through my marketing.

β€’ I don’t book sessions that don’t align with Him or my mission. I don’t want to capture or support things that go against God, so I have gotten more picky with what bookings I take. I want my work to reflect what God has intended for me.

β€’ I allow myself time for fun, rest, and God- rather than overbooking myself for more profit. I already work a full time night shift nurse job, so I make sure I have plenty of time to spend enjoying life and loving Jesus before booking sessions.

β€’ I avoid comparing myself to other photographers- jealousy does not come from God. He gifted me with the eye and style that I have, it is disrespectful to Him to envy another artist for their skills or success.

β€’ I trust His timing for my success over my own. God has a perfect plan and I know He wouldn’t have put this in my life if it was going to fail forever! I won’t lie, I have really struggled to get clients since moving to montana, but my life has been so chaotic this year already so I know God will provide me with success at a time I can actually handle what He has in store.

If this resonates with you or has inspired you to include God in your business, drop in β€œamen” in the comments! Let me know what other habits you would recommend to surrender your work to Him as well🀎
