I remember snapping this photo in our backyard. It seems like just yesterday, but here we are 5 years, and hundreds (if not thousands) of images later. Before I turned my little camera hobby into a business, I practiced on my own kids. It started when my youngest was just a month old, and I couldn't believe what a difference using manual mode made on the quality of those images.

This particular afternoon, my girls had raided the dress-up bin and turned our backyard into their own little world. A boa, some Elton John-worthy sunglasses, a hat with what I can only describe as cosmic horns... and one very serious three-year-old who was absolutely NOT playing around. She had a vision, okay?

What I love most about this photo isn't the outfit (though iconic, truly). It's that I was there. I was present enough to pick up my camera instead of just watching it happen. Because now, five years later, THIS is what I have. Not just a memory that fades a little more every year, but proof. Proof that she was three and wild and wonderful and so entirely herself.

That's why I do what I do. These are the moments worth keeping.

This whole thread of images .... It's the story of my journey as a photographer and I'm in my feels today.

15 years ago I bought my first DSLR. I thought having a "nice camera" meant I'd automatically take better pictures. I spent the next 7 years in auto mode 🫣

8 years ago I took a class and learned how to use manual mode, slowly mastering aperture, shutter speed, and ISO while taking photos of our kids.

6 years ago I started this photography business for fun, because of the encouragement of my friend and first client.

2 years ago I received international recognition for my work, not once, but twice. I cried the second time because I realized imposter syndrome was lying to me.

1 year ago I opened my studio. And since then, I've dreamed bigger, sharpened my skills, and made business decisions that helped me grow bigger than I ever imagined.

15 years ago I started taking photos to preserve my family's memories, and today I have the honor of capturing other families' memories. For that, I am eternally grateful 🫶🏻

Introducing the LWP Senior Team for Class of 2027!

I am so excited to officially welcome my very first senior team! This group of young women is hardworking, deeply involved in their schools and communities, and just genuinely wonderful to be around. I cannot wait to spend their senior year capturing all of it.

We have some really fun shoots planned throughout the year, so stay tuned!

Class of 2027 - it's your turn for Senior Portraits!!

I know, I know. You JUST stepped out of junior year and are relishing in your summer break, but hear me out. This summer is going to fly by, and so will your senior year. So getting your senior portraits booked for the summer before senior year is a smart plan. This allows for plenty of time to get those images ready for yearbook deadlines, headshot requests for activities, and whatever else requires those polished photos. What an incredible event hosted by Epiphany Farms Estate last week! Their private tour and dinner events are in a league of their own.

I had the privilege of attending my second dinner and tour event of the season, this time with The Collective Entrepreneur Group. It's evident that Ken R. Myszka has so much passion for the work he does with sustainable and ethical farming, dreaming big for things to come to give back to the community and make a positive impact here in McLean County and beyond.

Cake smash sessions might be my favorite thing to photograph, and Reagan's did not disappoint 🎂

Here's the thing about one-year milestone sessions: you never quite know what you're going to get. Some babies need a few minutes to warm up to the idea of cake. Others take one look and go absolutely feral for it. Reagan was firmly in the second camp, and it was the best.

If your baby is coming up on their first birthday, now is a great time to get their session on the calendar. These sessions go fast (in the best way), and the photos are ones you'll genuinely treasure.

And if cake smash isn't your thing, no worries at all! We can incorporate whatever food your little one loves into their birthday session. Donuts, pizza, a full steak situation... I'm not joking, we've done it. Sky's the limit.
