She looks forward to developing a variety of creative workshops for all ages in the near future. Some of Jessica's recent credits include a residency at The Switchboard in Haverhill, MA, where she completed "Firsthand: A Portrait Project to Close the Distance" during June 2020, followed by an exhibition of the portraits. This project was highlighted on the front pages of The Eagle Tribune, Haverhill Gazette, and Haverhill Life. Jessica was also commissioned as the designer for the 2021 Haverhill Art Walk season, creating a collection of colorful posters and maps for this event series.

What a joy and honor to capture the magic of healing modalities in action. I never expected to walk into The Yoga Tree to do a portrait project, only to keep coming back through those doors to tell the visual stories of their community, and to become part of their community through the practice of yoga. A true gift of synchronicity and finding myself right where I needed to be!

I am continuously grateful to be invited to share in these moments as a witness and storyteller.

Thank you The Yoga Tree and Sacred Sounds for trusting me to use my magic to capture yours!

I made this "Crystal Visions" collage at the start of the new year with the intention of welcoming more dreams, prosperity, and fluidity to my life. Making mood boards and collage can be a relaxing and therapeutic part of self-care, allowing you to process your dreams, emotions, and experiences in a visual space and giving a visual anchor to thoughts that can otherwise feel elusive or unattainable.

Join me for my upcoming Mood Board Workshop at The Yoga Tree on Sunday, February 25 from 1-3pm to set intentions and create your own unique piece of art that expresses your goals, dreams, and desires.

This time last year, I was frantically pulling together my Floral Fixation series for a solo show. It feels like I just finished gluing the last petals, touching up the last bit of paint. Where did the time go?!

Over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing throwbacks to this series, which is one of my favorite projects to date. Made with real dried flowers, original photography, and paint pours, these mixed media pieces were an interesting challenge.

Stay tuned for some behind-the-scenes looks at this show.

I've been leading a small writing group at the library, and it's been a blast coming up with prompts and readings for them to engage with. I found my knack for teaching as a children's librarian, but this past year as a creative workshop leader has helped me to hone my ability to spark creativity in adults.

Going forward, I'll be sharing more of my art, as well as my prompts for writing and creativity. I've been sitting on a mountain of work and resources, and it feels like the right time to start sharing them.

I hope you'll take these prompts and run with them. The folks in my writing group favor crafting personal essays, while I tend toward poetry. I create prompts that are flexible enough to bend into your preferred genre. Use them to write in your journal, craft a poem, or begin an essay. You can even modify to use for fiction by writing in the voice of a character, rather than reflecting on your own experiences. There are no rules, only play.

Here are some prompts to end one year and leap fearlessly into the next.

✨ Sense Memory: Write a list of sensory images and experiences from the past month. Be specific (the scent of orange slices drying in the oven, the feel of bird seed stuck to damp hands while filling feeders, etc). Include at least a dozen images. Next, weave as many of these images as possible into a piece of writing entitled "December."

✨ The Future is Folktale: Looking to the year ahead, craft a piece of writing in which every line begins with “I will...” Challenge yourself to explore surreal and fantastic possibilities. Will you waltz on water? Will you spin your dreams into cotton candy and watch them melt on a lover’s tongue? Get wild and wondrous. What’s stopping you?

May your 2024 be full of creativity, community, & wonder. đź’—
