A preview for Kate and Alex.
What a phenomenal day. Still giddy with joy after their celebration. Big highlight for me was also knowing that Alex is a nuke in the navy, just like my husband was. The navy life is oh so hard on relationships and families - I know it oh so well … so this one reminded me of the early stages of my own marriage and hit me deep in my feels. 🥹❤️ Here is the Kate and Alex! Thank you so so much for having me along for your big party! I loved every second of it!

Before the whirlwind that was our summer trip to Germany, I had the pleasure of photographing the sweetest couple, George and David. Lifestyle sessions are just so fun, and give me such a high as a photographer. When you create realistic situations for people, everything just falls into place so easily, it almost feels like cheating!

These and many more were actually shot for licensing at Stocksy and the location was not in fact their home. The most wonderful Emily Emily Day // Bell Brook Farm graciously lent us her beautiful farm and home for this project. I was obsessed with her yellow kitchen after a visit … and the rest was history, haha!

While I don’t normally post the projects I shoot for licensing on this IG here, I found that some of this adorable couples session just fit right in and needed their moment on this grid!❤️

Sometimes it’s just an impossible task trying to convey how truly magical a day was simply by selecting a handful of photos. You hope it’s comes across, but honestly … it’s not enough to tell the whole story. Not even close. But because social media doesn’t allow for more but a distilled and compressed view on life … here is an attempt to show you a teeensy tiny tidbit of what I can only call one of the best days. How is it that it’s already summer again and as another vacation is coming up, I realize I never even posted the last?
While shocking myself there how fast time is flying by lately … what better moment is there to reminisce with these photos while we are eagerly anticipating the next trip ✈️

The kids and I had our first solo trip ever … which was daunting initially, but it went better than I imagined it would! We flew to Germany to visit our family and stayed with my parents for a whole month. It was so nice to take off from working weddings and have a proper vacation. Jet lag was brutal for the first time since making these trips, it took us a whole week to adjust. That was one whole week of sitting at the kitchen table in the middle of the night, eating whatever we could find with a murderous appetite while whispering to one another so we didn’t wake up grandma and grandpa who were audibly snoring upstairs 😅
With that much time on hand though … we figured it would be super fun to have a camping vacation within our vacation. We all packed up and headed out on a road trip to Denmark!🇩🇰 We camped at the most gorgeous nature centric campground and got to sleep in a camper van. Such a cute and fun adventure that the kids still talk about. Olivia became very confident on a bike for the first time was finally coming out of her shell more and biked to all the playgrounds at the campgrounds. I just can’t wait to do it all again. And eat all the ice cream. Let’s not forget about the ice cream.

Chris getting ready to be married! Amy was just down the hall with her girls, mom and grandmother. Being close together like that made it possible to rock and roll this wedding without an assistant just fine. :) While I love having extra hands on the day of a wedding, it’s always good to know you can do it by yourself and trust in your skill enough to get it done without sacrificing in quality or storytelling. Of course that only works with enough time on hand, mind you. Nonetheless it was invigorating and tickled me just right that day to really use my years of experience to the fullest and create my magic the best way I knew how.
These begged to be monochrome, because the rest of the day was brimming with autumn color and sunshine. Contrasts make me happy!

A wintery wedding day in February. Emily looked as beautiful as freshly fallen snow as I photographed her just moments before she was wed. This wedding truly gave me life in this very long and cold season we’ve had this year. The warmth surrounding the couple all day was just what I needed, and melted me from the inside out. Working alongside Léa is also never a dull affair.🥰 Maybe winter weddings are the secret up here in the north when it comes to finding joy, warmth and connection no matter how tall the snow mountains in my front yard may get haha! More glimpses to come soon.

Just reliving this day because I’m yearning to photograph my next wedding already. And I’m yearning for warmer temperatures. Not sure I’ll get both, as the next wedding is coming up - in February! So chances are I’ll still be having cold fingers and be drinking aaaaall the warm beverages, but at least my heart will be warm! 🥰
I don’t know how others feel, but I for one am truly anxious to be working more weddings again even though the off season has only just begun - and dare I say it? I’m not in the least fearing a busy season. Bring it on! I need more people in love. Good people, being kind and warm to one another. Seeing adults hug, smile, laugh, cry … and say I love you all day. To have a good time again and just remember that there is true good in people. Weddings especially always remind me so well of that.❤️
