“Once in a blue moon.” Here is to the rare occasions that come along only now and then.

Recently, I had the opportunity to visit and photograph several waterfall locations in the Finger Lakes area of New York. So many wonderful locations out there to appreciate, and most of them are free and only require a little bit of effort. Life is easier when you look for the good 😊

I enjoyed the brief spectacular sunset and rainbow tonight. Some of the best things in life are free :-)

I was driving home last evening, and I noticed the sky was shaping up to be pretty nice. I thought about driving to an ideal vantage point as I had my cameras with me to capture a sunset picture. But, I thought to myself, “it’s been a long week and I haven’t had dinner yet, and, how many pictures of the sunrise and sunset do you really need?” I proceeded to drive home and then noticed that the sky was REALLY looking good!

The voice inside got louder and said, “GO!”

I’m so grateful I took the inspiration to capture this picture and share it with you.

Whatever it is you feel is calling you, when that inner voice is saying “go, I’m calling you to do this,” as long as it’s reasonably within your values – do it.

Listen to that inner inspiration, to that voice within you. That’s where your true spirit lies. Learn to tune in. You’ll be glad you did.

The sunrise this morning on my way to work was magical. I took about a dozen images of this setting and was lucky enough to have the geese flying across the horizon on three images.

I’ve always liked the definition that luck is what happens when preparedness meets opportunity. I was dialed into the lighting early this morning prior to sunrise and doing my part to be prepared, but the geese entering the frame of my camera was very lucky indeed.

My final stop of the morning for the waterfall challenge was at Glen Falls in Williamsville. I’ve been to this location a number of times and it is always such a peaceful park setting. The waterfalls itself was absolutely roaring with the rain we’ve had recently. I took a few images of the falls, but instead focused on the nearby mill, which has always been a favorite of mine. Looking forward to more places to visit as I follow along the WNY Waterfall Challenge.

My second stop for the waterfall challenge was at Cazenovia Park Falls. While only a 6 foot drop, the 150 foot wide waterway was roaring with activity. This one was a bit more difficult to capture. Instead of a tall cascade, I focused on the movement of the water and the volume being carried.

I had fun this morning adding to locations visited for the WNY Waterfall Challenge. The first stop was at Buttermilk Falls at Hobuck Flats in North Evans. The nearly 70 foot water drop along the 18 mile creek was relatively easy to access and a great view.
