For this image I decided to make it extra special by doing a "painterly edit". Such edits are becoming very popular for portraiture and involve a series of steps to make the photograph feel more like a painting. Smoothing skin way more than I usually would, heavy shadows, a sepia color cast, brush strokes in the blanket, a canvas/leather effect on the backdrop, and calculated dodging and burning help add to the illusion. Not every image is right for this level of secondary post-processing, but this one is perfect!

Welcome to the 20s! This time twice as nice.

And welcome to this precious baby girl. Her siblings call her "Twinkle" and I think it's just perfect to describe her in this flapper inspired setup. She's already a bright spot for her family during a time that hasn't been easy. I hope her fighting spirit and innate beauty are a sign of things to come in the new year.

Another fantastic cake smash is on the blog. This little guy has grown so much since his newborn shoot and gets cuter by the week it would seem.

I really enjoy doing custom setups and fine art editing. One image takes quite awhile but it's worth it! This one is created with a roll of fake "grass" for a miniature railroad, 3 different sized grapevine wreaths, a deconstructed wreath, a blanket, moss, and a faux moss pad that I needle felted out of yarn. It also features tiny four leaf clovers that are actually preserved hydrangea petals from his mom's wedding flowers.

It's amazing how much babies change in just the first few weeks. This little guy came to visit me at 9 days old and he's not the pointy headed little guy I remember from the hospital at all. Just an incredibly beautiful child and a true .
