Happy Earth Day!

It’s up to us to protect our earth's wonderful biodiversity. If you want to see it for yourself, well, spring is THE best time to bear witness to mother nature's bountiful gift. Where I live in Michigan, I had a tremendous time earlier today searching for spring ephemeral flowers and mushrooms. And obviously, I'm also incredibly excited at the prospect of all the incredible spring migrant birds returning within next week!

Haven’t really posted anything for the past few days as I'm spending the last remaining days of my Winter Vacation with my friends at New York City (AKA the 2nd greatest city on earth). So I'm short on photographs to post right now, having to dig a bit into the past to present y'all this male Common Yellowthroat for today's
I photographed it last summer, during which these warblers are a common sight in the wet areas of Michigan. One of my friends calls these lil dudes "bandit warblers", which is quite an apt name for the males as their "bandit" masks cover their faces.

Saving the best for the last...today is Day 31 of my August photography series, and to conclude it, I have chosen to upload a photo of the rarest bird I've seen so far!

This is a Kirtland's Warbler, a warbler species so rare that it breeds exclusively in the young jack pine forests of Michigan and Wisconsin. Like most New World warblers, the Kirtland's Warbler only occurs in the USA during the summer. Afterward, it almost exclusively winters in the Bahamas. It is estimated that only 4,500-5,000 Kirtlannd's Warblers currently exist in the wild. I was fortunate enough to photograph one this June when I visited its breeding range near the Au Sable river.

Thank you to everyone who followed my August photography series throughout the month, I genuinely appreciate the support! From now on, I plan on uploading my wildlife photography twice or thrice per week.

As August winds down, shorebirds like this White-rumped Sandpiper have started to migrate southwards.
Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refugee is easily one of the best birding spots I've ever been to, and it's mostly due to the sheer number of shorebirds I saw there. Can't wait to visit it again!

Striped Hyena, which I photographed at the Dhaka Zoo.
Normally, hyenas are associated with the African savannah. However, the Striped Hyena can also be found across most of Asia, from the Middle East to South Asia.

Happy World Photography Day!
For this day, I have decided to share a Killdeer I photographed this April. This shorebird is mostly a resident of the USA, however, the population here in Michigan usually migrates south for the months of November to February.

Today is International Wolf Day!
I don't have any wolf photographs, so instead of wolves, I'm posting a photo of a "Red Wolf". In reality, this canid is a Dhole- an Asiatic wild dog species that was colloquially known as "Red Wolf" to Colonial British hunters.

Highly endangered, IUCN assumes that only 4,500–10,500 Dholes currently exist in the wild. Most of the currently extant wild dholes live in India
