You can see some of the damage to the Savoy from the ground but you get a better idea of the extent of it from the air. Just a few shots of the building I got while I was taking video of the Rex last month.

Drone footage of the Rex Theater before it is demolished.

From a post by Henrietta Kirby:

"The Rex Theater was built around 1920. The three-story picture house located at 200 N. Maple held 675 seats. It was opened by George Shilkett, who went on to own theaters in Sapulpa and Joplin, Missouri as well. In its early days, the Rex Theater was the site of vaudeville and silent movies. The third floor of the building featured apartments."

Unfortuanly a storm on the morning of June the 28th caused part of the structure to collapse. The owners were in the process of getting the building repaired at the time but are now forced to have the building demolished. A gofund me has been set up to help offset the costs, I encourage everyone to come together as a community and help the family with their expenses.
