My goal tonight was to capture the moon rising behind the Empire State Building. I checked the weather to ensure clear skies, I consulted an app to figure out where I needed to stand, I drove an hour an a half through NJ traffic HELL, searched for parking and then the clouds said, "oh hell no".

The latest in the continuing saga of being a total geek.

This is a picture of Notch Lake in the base of the Catskills. I've been trying to take this picture for the last 3 years as I always though it would be cool with the V shape and the north star almost in the center. Also I thought the lights from the cars on the road would add an interesting touch.

This picture is compiled of over 200 exposures that have been stacked on top of each other to create the star trails and the river of light on the roadway.

I tried to capture the images on Sunday night, but the sky clouded over. Ron took the train back home and Lily and I camped an extra night just to do this. Keep in mind that it is a new moon which made it the best time for this.

I wanted to get fancy tonight but failed.... still came home with a couple of nice captures.

I grabbed a still from my flight the other morning that I'm going to print up. I have a neighbor who has done a couple of watercolors from stills that she has captured from my videos. I figured I can do the same, lol
