It’s been such a busy summer, and I’ve been soaking up every single minute I can with my family and kiddos. We spent most of last week out of town, savoring the last bits of summer before my older two head back to school - one beginning her last year of middle school (how?!) and the other starting his first year there. First grade for Miles also begins next week, so we’ve been prepping all the curriculum things and slowly getting back into the swing of things.

No big plans, no perfect outfits - just long days filled with sunshine, laughter, and the simple magic of being a kid.

That’s what I want to capture for you.

Real Life: Summer Edition is a nostalgic backyard session that celebrates the real moments of summer. Your kids jumping through the sprinkler, sipping lemonade on the porch, doing summersaults on the trampoline, flying kites. Your family - messy, playful, and so full of joy.

Not posed. Not polished. Just the kind of summer memories you’ll want to hold onto forever.

- $300 — $150 due at booking, remainder before your session
- Must be within 40 minutes of Oak Park (travel fee applies outside that)

Spent a good part of this session chasing barefoot kids, climbing old rusted tractors and wandering through overgrown grass. It was imperfect in the most perfect way. No one was posing. No one was performing. It was real life - messy, sweet, and everything I love about this job.

These storytelling sessions have been lighting me up lately. They feel honest. Natural. Like a shift I’ve been waiting for.. creating the kind of work I’ve always wanted to.

There’s something so special about being invited into the realness of a family’s life - not just the posed smiles, but the ordinary, beautiful in-between moments. And it’s the direction I feel pulled toward more and more.

The trust that goes into this kind of session means everything to me. It’s not just about taking photos, it’s about witnessing your life and preserving it gently, with intention. I’m hoping to shift my work more fully into this space, and to help bring that vision to life, I’m offering two Organic Storytelling Sessions at a discounted rate of $750 (regularly $1100).

These are 3-hour, documentary-style sessions that give us space to slow down and simply let your story unfold. You’ll receive a full, hand-edited gallery that reflects your family just as you are in this season.

I’m looking for two families who feel drawn to this kind of work, who are open to letting me in and letting things be beautifully imperfect.

Motherhood feels a lot like that, doesn’t it?
You nurture slowly, watch them grow and change.. and, in return, get to witness all the tiny miracles. The way they curl into you when they’re sleepy, how their laughter echos just a little louder outside, how one moment you’re reading a book on the grass and the next they’re growing up before your eyes.

These moments are fleeting, my friends, but they matter. They matter more than you can even prepare yourself for.

You don’t need the perfect outfit or a perfect house. You just need you, and the people who make your heart feel like home. Because the tiny miracles happen quickly.

I’m booking a handful more summer sessions, so, if your heart’s been whispering that it’s time to finally get in front of the camera - this is definitely your sign. 🖤

I will always love photographing families and children, that kind of storytelling has my whole heart. But getting to capture people doing something they’re deeply passionate about? That lights me up in a whole different way.

Being part of the Cultivate class with Floraculture Gardens, photographing Rachel down in the dirt - planting, teaching, harvesting - has been such a joy. There’s something so grounding and beautiful about witnessing people connect with the earth and with each other.

Manifesting more of this energy: more gardens, more passion-filled work, more people doing what they love. Maybe even a call from a gardening or floral magazine? Haha I’m ready. Let’s grow, friends.

Here’s my, what.. monthly reminder? Haha Your session can happen literally anywhere - a trail, a backyard, or even over donuts or ice cream outside your favorite spot. It’s not about the perfect location, it’s about the connection, the joy, and the everyday moments with the people you love.

Also, Keyara shared with me that it had been three years, to the day, since our very first shoot together when we met for this session - and it absolutely floored me. What an honor it’s been to photograph their growing and changing family over the years. I got a little emotional thinking about all of the families who come back again and again, and let me watch their families grow up. Sessions like this truly remind me why I love this job. So, thank you friends. 🖤

Something a little different for my feed this morning…

On Sunday, I had the opportunity to attend and photograph .gardens Cultivate gardening class. Rachel is so knowledgeable and kind, and I can’t wait to continue learning from her.

Photographing people doing what they love, in a space that I also love, is truly special. I know I mentioned this in my last post, but if you’re a gardener - big or small, huge plots of land or a few pots on the porch - I would love to document you in your element. Whether it’s you and your little ones digging in the dirt or simply you, your plants, and the quiet magic of growing something with your own hands, let’s make it happen.

Lately, I’ve been deep in garden planning - figuring out what to plant, what to change, and daydreaming about turning my backyard into a little cottage oasis. I want it filled to the brim with vegetables, berries, herbs, and flowers. It’s a big vision, and honestly, kind of overwhelming, but we’ll see where it goes!

All this garden daydreaming has me thinking about the backyard sessions I’ve photographed. The ones where kids are barefoot in the dirt, picking flowers, running wild. That kind of magic gets me every time, and I’m so ready for more of it.

I’m just curious, friends. Have you ever thought about having photos in your own garden? I’d love to start a series capturing women in their garden spaces - whether it’s a full backyard setup or just a few potted plants on the porch. With kids, without, whatever feels right. I’ve been quiet here, wrapped up in my family, homeschooling, our wild + free group, bookstagram, and book retreats - but I promise you I am still here. I’m still working, and still love documenting you and your family, I’ve just been less focused on the social media aspect.. and honestly, it’s been nice.
