When I started watching traffic in the 1990s, I thought that by now they’d have it figured out. Well it’s 2026 and this morning on the Bay Bridge has doubled drives times due to a stalled truck. Going to San Francisco from Oakland? It’s going to take longer than usual.

Film anyone? This seems like the perfect weekend to take an old film camera out for a spin. Of course I shoot mostly digital these days but I still have the desire to go old school occasionally. Which one should I take? Have you ever shot film? With digital being so easy, do you wonder why people still do it? Show me your film photos if you have any. Oh and I took these pictures with my iPhone 😆.

Our last Zip Trip of the summer is to San Francisco’s Hayes Valley. Do you have a favorite food or drink spot there? One of my favorites is Suppenküche. Beer and sausage? Yes please. Sad news: Dolly Parton has died at age 80. She was a singer-songwriter-actor and cultural icon. Even my kids loved her. She will be missed. Did you have a favorite song or story about her?

I asked my teenage daughter if she could identify any of this stuff and she could one name one (she’s pointing to it). Do you think people younger than 30 know any of this stuff? Can you identify all of these items?

It’s world photography day! You don’t have to have a fancy camera to be a photographer. Anyone can enjoy taking pictures from casual to professional. I started taking photos when my dad gave me a camera and I’ve always enjoyed it. Now, it’s easier than ever to use your phone. Others still like using a traditional camera. Here are a few of my favorite photos I took this year. Which one do you like if any? Although I’ve done professional work, my favorite is just taking photos of friends, family, and street photography. I’ve also included a photo taken of me with my camera. Show me some of yours!

It’s move in day at UC Berkeley! This is what I looked like as a UC Berkeley student. I lived in the dorms at Cal when I was a freshman and sophomore. It’s hard to believe I was ever this young. (Photographers: this was taken with my camera using Kodak Tri-X film.) Do you have your high school or college photos in your phone? May I see a few?
