I’m still smiling looking through Alex & Shea’s Yosemite wedding photos.

Because I was THERE, and honestly… what a freaking day.

These two got married surrounded by their favorite people, and then immediately turned Yosemite into the world’s most beautiful summer playground.

Cocktails. 🍹
Touch Rugby. 🏉
River games. 💦
Ribbons flying everywhere.

And a whole lot of people who clearly came to CELEBRATE.

I remember standing there with my camera, trying to keep up with everything happening around me — one minute catching a quiet kiss, the next watching someone launch a rugby ball across the river.

And THAT is what I love about weddings.

The little moments.
The ridiculous moments.
The “wait, are we really doing this?” moments.

The ones you couldn't have planned perfectly if you tried.

Alex & Shea, thank you for letting me witness all of it. I’m so freaking happy I got to be there. 🤍

And if you’re planning an elopement or intimate wedding, let this be your reminder:

It doesn’t have to mean less.

Less people, maybe.
Less tradition, if you want.

But never less joy, less adventure, or less of the people and things that make your love story yours.

Your wedding can be small and still feel BIG.

Your wedding doesn’t have to be a production.

It can just be a really, really good day with your favorite people.

The kind of day where nobody is checking the timeline every five minutes.

Where you have time to actually eat your cake.

Where your best friend makes a ridiculous toast, your mom cries, someone gets grass on their nice outfit, and you sneak away for five quiet minutes just to take it all in.

Maybe there’s a grand venue.
Maybe there’s a mountaintop.
Maybe there’s a hike involved and everyone’s wearing shoes they can actually walk in. 😂

There’s no wrong way to do it.

A Yosemite wedding can be wildly beautiful without turning into a full-scale production. And a Yosemite elopement can be just as meaningful when the plan is simply:

get married → explore somewhere gorgeous → eat something delicious → hang out with our favorite people → repeat forever.

Because at the end of the day, you’re not going to remember whether every detail went according to plan.

You’re going to remember how it felt.

So build a wedding day that gives you more of that.

More laughing.
More wandering.
More hugging.
More “holy crap, we’re actually married.”
Less performing for the imaginary wedding police. 😆

Pretty is lovely.

But a day that actually feels like yours?

That’s the good stuff. 🤍

Planning a Yosemite elopement? Here’s what couples often wish they knew BEFORE the day. 🌲

Because the biggest regrets usually aren’t about the dress, the flowers, or the photos.

They’re about rushing through a day they waited so long for.

If you want your elopement wedding to feel like an actual adventure—not a photoshoot with vows squeezed in—keep these 6 things in mind:

Leave room in the timeline.

Don’t rush from vows → photos → dinner. Give yourselves time to wander, breathe, snack, and follow the moment.

Actually experience Yosemite.

You chose this place for a reason. Hike. Picnic. Chase the sunset. Stop for the view. Make the landscape part of the adventure.

Protect time for just you two.

Even with your favorite people there, carve out a little pocket with no cameras, no family, no schedule. Just you.

Bring the people who feel like home.

An elopement doesn’t have to mean alone. Invite the handful of people you genuinely can’t imagine celebrating without.

Do the things that feel like YOU.

Ice cream. Hiking boots. Your favorite meal. Your dog. A weird little tradition. A spontaneous dance.

Your wedding doesn’t need to look like everyone else’s.

Stop trying to make it perfect.

The wind will mess up your hair. Someone will cry. Your dress might get dirty. The timeline might fall apart.

Let it.

Those aren’t the moments that ruin the story. They’re the story.

Your wedding day should give you room to wander, laugh, explore, cry, eat something delicious, hug your people, and actually take it all in.

Because when you look back at your photos, you shouldn’t just remember what the day looked like.

You should remember what it felt like. 🤍🌲

A wedding day that felt like one long summer evening outside. 🤍

Olivia + Abhi’s wedding at Brownstone Gardens was full of the kind of moments I love capturing most — genuine laughs, emotional hugs, quiet glances and everyone simply enjoying being together.

And when your ceremony *and* reception are outdoors, the whole day has this beautifully relaxed flow to it.

Golden light filtering through the trees.
Dinner under the open sky.
Conversations lingering a little longer.
And a dance floor that comes alive as the sun goes down.

You don’t need to know San Francisco to elope in San Francisco. That’s my job. 😉

Alia & Nick traveled all the way from North Carolina to get married at San Francisco City Hall — which meant they knew where they wanted to say I do… but they didn’t need to know every little detail of how to make the rest of their elopement day work.

Where should we go after City Hall?
How much time do we actually need?
Which locations make sense together?
What happens when the Golden Gate Bridge decides to disappear into the fog? 😂

This is one of my favorite parts of being a San Francisco elopement photographer: I’m not just showing up with cameras.

I live here. I know this city.

I know its little corners, its wildly different neighborhoods, its traffic, its microclimates, and the way the weather can go from sunshine to hello Karl 👋 in what feels like five minutes.

So instead of giving my couples a list of pretty locations and saying, “pick one,” I help them build an elopement experience that actually makes sense.

For Alia & Nick, that meant celebrating inside the ridiculously gorgeous San Francisco City Hall, then heading out into the city for something completely different.

And when San Francisco gave us a very foggy Golden Gate Bridge?

We didn’t wait around wishing for blue skies.

We embraced it.

Because THAT is San Francisco. 🤍

And honestly, I’d much rather give you photos that feel like the place you chose to get married than spend your wedding day fighting the weather trying to make it look like somewhere else.

Sorry I went MIA — I was in the best kind of editing rabbit hole 😆

AKA: busy living in someone else’s best memories.

For the past few days, I’ve been editing Susan & Jason’s full day video, and it honestly felt like I got invited back into their wedding day all over again.

They decided to purchase their full day video as a 1-year anniversary gift to themselves, which is already the sweetest idea.

But selfishly? It became a gift for me too.

Because while I was putting everything together, I got to relive the little moments, the big feelings, the voices, the laughter, the happy tears, and all the tiny pieces of the day that made it feel like their day.

And yes, in some of those clips, you can definitely see me having an absolute blast too. Professional? Always. Emotionally invested? Also 100%.
