Snow Hill is having the Board approve a human composting project.
Seattle company to purchase Snow Hill site for soil distribution.

Worcester County has approved a first-of-its-kind human composting project near Snow Hill, but not without some unease from neighbors living alongside the property where the unique soil would go.

The county’s Board of Zoning Appeals voted 4–2 at its Aug. 13 meeting to grant a special exception that allows soil made from human remains to be applied to the agricultural property as a soil amendment.

The decision clears the way for the company Earth Funeral to use the soil to gradually convert the 15 acres of farmland into a forest, at a rate of about one to two acres per year.

Attorney Hugh Cropper represented both Earth Funeral, which is based in Seattle, and the current property owners, whose contract to sell the land was contingent on zoning approval. A sale price was not disclosed.

The Baltimore Sun

By the time most Ocean City vacationers are asleep, the resort’s most important attraction may be littered with cups, pizza boxes, cigarette butts, broken umbrellas and nearly everything else imaginable.

Like clockwork, by 10:30 p.m. the “sand farmers” arrive. By 7 a.m., 10 miles of beach must be clean, level and ready for another wave of visitors.

White Marlin Open 2026 RECAP! 📣

The 53rd annual tournament had 334 boats competing for roughly $9.9 million.

The big winners were:
🏆 White Marlin: Mister Pete — Bill Sharpe — 80 lbs — about $3.5 million

🔵 Blue Marlin: MaxBet — Kelly Weber — 607.5 lbs — about $1.27 million

🐟 Tuna: Gray Fox — John Wardlaw — 179 lbs — about $1.02 million

⚡ Wahoo: Gray Fox — 69.5 lbs — about $72,000

🐬 Dolphin: Today’s The Day — Ryan Jones — 45 lbs — about $22,000

⚔️ Swordfish: No qualifying fish.

And that MaxBet blue marlin had one of the craziest swings of the tournament. When Kelly Weber brought the 607.5-pounder to the scales, it was initially being talked about as potentially worth $5.2 million. After the remaining fish and added-entry money were sorted out, its final projected payout came down to roughly $1.27 million.

How about this capture of the severe thunderstorm today?!?

This shelf cloud was trying to become a supercell was over Howard County. Two tornado warnings were issued over Baltimore just to the east when this passed by.

Lots of storm damage reports ranging from wind, lightning strikes, and local flooding.
