If you're new to this page or have just come across it... My name is James Ellis. I have been airbrushing since 1995. Over that time I have found that people interact best with me as an artist, individual, person, friend than they do a business page. So that is where I put my social media focus. If you really want to stay up to date with what's happening give me a follow on my page. There you'll probably get faster response times, behind the scenes look at works in progress, content from the automotive show scene and anything in between.
Now, a little information that I neglected to share here that might be useful for someone seeking an airbrush artist. I spent a greater portion of last month in the hospital in July. After two procedures to fuse three vertebrae in my spine I am now home and healing. This is going to be a long process time wise before I am able to take on new work. I will probably have PT in the future once I'm ready for that phase of healing. I don't have a answer for when I will be ready or able to take on new projects. That doesn't mean we can't start the planning process and discussing details. What it does mean is to get on the list a deposit will be required once we have a plan.
Anyone who knows me also knows that I don't overbook or take on more than I can handle. I will never deposit more than three jobs out. I'm also not going to put myself in a situation where I have to rush or sacrifice quality. Meaning I'm not going to take on a job that may normally take 2-3 months with you wanting it for a show in a month and a half. I work for quality, not a show date. That doesn't mean every job I take on is going to be "high end"...your budget dictates what can be done. Before you even contact any artist you need to know what your budget is. Then I will let you know what approach we can take to do something cool for that budget...or if you need to wait and raise your budget.
Also if you're new here you need to know....I am an airbrush artist! When it comes to professional services "airbrush" is what I do. Don't contact me to paint your car one color. I'm not a painter, I can paint but it's not what I am in business to do. I'm also not a bodyshop. Just remember you're contacting me for art. I can clear and finish out my work, this also needs to be planned into your budget. Yes, you can do your own clear and finish. However, if you or whoever you have doing the finish burns through or damages the art, the cost for repairing it is on you when it comes back.
A lot of this information I have said before and is also on my website. I know this has gotten really long but I feel if there is someone new here this information answers a lot of common questions and serves as an update for my current status. With that said my website is still hot including the store. Orders may be slightly delayed from the usual lightning speed but my wife will help me get them out to you.
As far as show schedule for the rest of the year. FlashBack will be in Biloxi somehow for The Freakin Weekend. We haven't worked out the details yet. Nor, do I know if and for how long I will be able to attend but if there is anything from the site we can bring to you at the show just reach out through email or if we're connected on my personal page. This is a great way to save on shipping and if needed I can answer questions or give you information about your product in person.
One more note... I don't have a style and my work isn't easily put into a box. I think each project has it's own life and I taylor it to your liking. So after the budget question, I will probably have a ton of questions. This is my way of getting on the same page with you and delivering "your" custom piece. So if you're looking for a way to describe my work the only box I want to be put into is professional and clean. I also want it to reflect the same quality of excellence that are in the UreChem Paints I carry and use.
