I made this reel over a week ago when I was feeling quite heavy-hearted. To be honest, that weight never really lifts. For those that don't know, my mother has full dementia and has been unable to communicate for some time now.. My mother had a fondness for pink, and as I sat down to create a custom banner for my Etsy shop, I found myself starting to break down. While using pink for Valentine's Day is far from unusual, this year feels different. I was at my desk, reflecting, thinking, "Mom would appreciate this..." and I remembered the time she called me asking, "How much?" At first, I was confused, but she clarified that she wanted one of my banners. My mother cherished every holiday, but Valentine's Day was particularly special to her, as it brought a reason for pink in her home. When you look up the meaning of pink in the context of relationships, it signifies unconditional love, nurturing, gentleness, tranquility, sweetness, and so much more. My mother embodied that pink in my life, and she always will.
For anyone navigating grief, I hope you can find a glimmer of peace amidst your sorrow. Remember to nurture yourself, just as those you’ve lost would have cherished you.
For those that have just sat to watch or read this far, I thank you and appreciate your time 🩷
