The last day of summer 2026. I know here in South Florida that doesn’t really matter for another month or so, but tomorrow is the official first day of fall.

Florida had a brutally hot, dry summer, and the wet season didn't really kick in until late August and into September.

The very strong El Niño underway will likely contribute to an active fall and winter storm season across Florida.

What about the remainder of the hurricane season? Well, we’ll say that very strong wind shear is keeping things in check at the moment. We’ll see if that continues into October.

A small funnel cloud lasted 5 to 7 minutes (6:44pm) before dissipating approximately 1 to 2 miles northeast of Okeechobee, Florida.
