This is Bob.

Bob was adopted a couple of years ago, right around New Year’s, and since then he has learned one very important thing about living in this house...

No one is safe when I have my camera out. Pictures can and WILL happen at any time.

With all my kids grown and out doing their own thing, my pups have become my very willing (okay, sometimes not-so-willing) practice subjects. New lens? Bob. Trying something with lighting? Bob. Just happen to have my camera in my hand when he’s looking particularly cute? Sorry, Bob.

This was one of those moments. I was playing around with my camera, caught this sweet little face, and knew I had to share it.

Now I want to know...does your pet LOVE having their picture taken, or do they somehow know the second the camera comes out and immediately refuse to cooperate?

And if you’ve ever thought, “I wish I had a really good picture of my dog,” bring them along to your next session. I’m definitely not opposed to a four-legged family member sneaking into a few pictures.

A little behind the scenes of a senior session with me…

There may be twirling.
There may be fields.
And apparently, there may be me standing on top of hay bales to get the shot. 😂

But this is honestly one of my favorite parts of what I do. Figuring out what makes each senior different and creating pictures that actually feel like THEM.

Because your senior pictures shouldn't look exactly like everyone else's.

2027 seniors, now is a great time to start planning yours!

I LOVE a beautiful photo. You know the one. Everyone is looking, everyone is smiling, nobody has their eyes closed, the kids are cooperating, your hair is doing what it's supposed to do and for one glorious second everyone looks like they have it all together. :)

But you know what I also love?

The stuff that happens in between.

Mom still trying to get the baby situated.

The kids who have decided we are apparently jumping now.

The little look between two people.

A girl loving on her dog.

A mama holding her baby just the way she probably does a hundred times a day without ever thinking about it.

Those are the things I notice.

And I think after doing this for so many years, I've realized those may actually be some of the most important pictures I take.

Because life changes SO fast.

Those babies get bigger. Those little legs get longer. Kids stop wanting to jump around like crazy people when you're trying to take their picture. :) The puppy gets gray around the face. And before you know it, something that felt completely ordinary at the time isn't ordinary anymore.

So yes, when you book a session with me, we are absolutely going to get the pretty pictures.

But I'm also watching for all the other stuff.

The stuff you may not even realize I'm taking a picture of.

Because someday you might look at one of those photos and think...

Oh my goodness. I remember when they did that.

And THAT is the good stuff.

A little throwback to a senior session I did in Texas, and goodness I still love these photos!

The colors in this session were just so good. That beautiful golden yellow with the soft blue and white behind her, her curls, the light...it all just worked.

But what I really loved was the grace this sweet senior had about her. She was just naturally beautiful and comfortable, and I feel like that came through in every single photo we took.

That is probably one of my favorite parts about senior photography. I love finding the places, the colors, the outfits and all those little details that fit the person I am photographing. I don't want every senior session to look the same, because no two seniors are the same!

And sometimes you go digging through old sessions and find one that makes you think...yep, I still love this one. This was definitely one of those. :)

For all my senior moms and upcoming seniors, what are you drawn to when you look at senior photos? The location? The colors? More natural photos? Something a little more dramatic and different? I would love to know!

And if senior pictures are coming up for you, now is a great time to start thinking about your session. Fall will be here before we know it!

As the temperatures scorch the earth here in Oklahoma, one can only look forward to the coming of fall. It never seems to last long enough, but goodness, it gives us something beautiful to look forward to.

I loved everything about this session. The moodiness, the soft fall colors, and the way the whole scene looked almost like a painting. But the best part was this glowing mama, filled with the sweet anticipation of meeting her new little one.

It really is the little things that make a photo special.

What is your favorite thing about fall sessions? The colors, the cooler weather, or that dreamy golden light?

My fall calendar is beginning to fill, so if you have been thinking about updating your family photos, planning a senior session, or documenting a special season of life, now is a good time to reach out. Fall will be here and gone before we know it!

"The Little Things"

One day they'll run ahead without looking back.

One day those tiny fingers won't reach for yours.
Those little barefoot steps will become big ones.
The outfit that seems too big today will be packed away before you know it.

But today...

Today, they still fit perfectly between your feet.
They still look back just to make sure you're there.

It's funny how the biggest moments in life are often made of the smallest things.

What's one little thing about your kids that you wish you could freeze forever?

❤️ Tell me in the comments. I'd love to read them

"The Little Things"

They say babies don't keep.

And they're right.

One day that tiny curl of hair will be gone.
Those little fingers will wrap around yours with strength instead of wonder.
The sleepy newborn stretches will become running feet and endless adventures.

It's the little details I find myself photographing the longest, because I know how quickly they disappear.

The little things become the big memories.

One of the greatest privileges of being your family photographer is getting to grow up with your family.

In my mind, time stands still between sessions. Then I see you again and marvel at how much you've changed, how much you've grown, and how quickly the years have slipped by.

Photography is my favorite kind of magic. It gives us a way to hold on to a moment forever, even when life refuses to slow down.

“The flowers bloomed, big sister smiled, and somewhere in between all the quiet little moments, a family grew even sweeter.”

There is just nothing better than a little bundle of love. So small, so sweet, so absolutely perfect. Watching this family love on their newest gift was the best, and getting to witness those first little interactions between sisters absolutely melted me.

This is my why :). I love getting to be there to capture these moments, and what an honor it is to create the very first official photos of a brand new little life.

Sweet little Lucy, you are already so very loved.
