One of my many, many pivots during quarantine has been to try and learn how to do product photography.

Here’s my first go at it. Not too shabby if I do say so myself! Check stories for behind the scenes of how I set it up at home and the original white background image. I did mellow yellow for funsies in your feed.

In the future, I want to have a larger studio set up so I can do things like have black reflector kits set up on both sides and tall enough ceilings so I can overhead light easier. I’ll get there.

Thanks for joining me on my photography journey, friends! And thank you for the delicious rum. I love y’all forever.

I don’t know about y’all, but I’m for fall 🍁🍂 I’m dreaming of foggy weather, plaid shirts, and brightly colored leaves falling gently to the ground while I sip on a warm beverage.

Since we’re still a bit always from that type of weather in Oklahoma, I decided to make a comforting beverage that still chilled so I can enjoy it in 80% humidity.

Swipe to see my amazing fail while light testing 😅 Still looks pretty imo.

Figgy Weather
1 fig, peeled
1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
2oz or similar5oz original

Muddle fig, spices, and sugar in shaker. Add bourbon, vermouth, and ice. Shake until chilled, strain ice and shake vigorously for about a minute to make egg whites extra foamy.

Strain into coupe and garnish with sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice and a fig wedge.

The cocktail of the week is a spin on No. 2 Fleet Street from . Instead of serving it up, I decided to layer it over ice so that you can see the beautiful Rhubarb gin and on full display.

In honor of OKC gem , I’m naming this No. 2 Hudson Ave.

No. 2 Hudson Ave
1oz pineapple juice
1/2oz lemon juice
1/2oz yellow .fr
1/2oz simple syrup
10 coffee beans
1oz Ha’penny Rhubarb Gin
1/2oz Empress 1908 Gin

Shake everything but the gins over ice and double strain into highball filled with ice. Using the back of a bar spoon, gently layer the Ha’penny and Empress gins. Pro-tip, you may need to top with more ice after the Ha’penny gin so that the Empress floats correctly. No need to garnish, but you can use a dried pineapple wheel and coffee beans if desired.

The Yellow Chartreuse and pineapple mixture is delicious on its on, but you should stir to mix in the gin after you sneak a taste.

Cheers!

Literally went through a year’s worth of photos to try and find an outtake to meet the challenge from . It ended with me telling “WHY ARE MY FRIENDS SO PERFECT?!” because I couldn’t find one missed pour, dropped glass, or even a rogue ice cube.

So here are the best (worst?) of my outtakes. Swipe to see the last one that’s wholly inappropriate to showcase on the first slide. 😳😂 I generally do not edit/post egg pictures because most people find them unappetizing. Brenna and Ryan still look great, imo. Me on the other hand...

That cherry drip though 👀

If you need an old fashioned and burger, has ya covered. Sorry to bombard y’all with pics, I just can’t get enough of this shoot!

BOOK UPDATE: The publisher is still printing the advance copies. Why did I choose to print advance copies first? Because print is different than digital, I want to make sure the colors are accurate. Additionally, I want to make certain that there’s no glaring edits I need to make before it makes it’s way to you. With that said, my hope is to start pre-sales on August 1st. If you preorder, you’ll get a sweet discount and have the book directly shipped to your house!

Cheers and thank you for all your support! Y’all are the best! @ New State Burgers

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for a whiskey. How about a Old Fashioned by ? Burgers, booze, and chicken nuggets, what could be better?

I’ve been a big fan of New State since they opened last year. They’re genuinely some of the nicest, funniest people around. I truly look forward to capturing their space. Plus, they have some delicious whiskeys! If you’re into that, they have a whiskey dinner coming up with and I hear they still have tickets!

Not really an ad. Just love New State, Weller Full Proof Old Fashioneds, and capturing that gorgeous light.

My friends at have an anniversary extravaganza going on this weekend! Spin a wheel to win fun prizes, pick up some delicious burgers and beer, and catch some dope swag—like the .elyjah limited edition beer glasses and shirts.

Pictured here are perfectly delicious burgers, their mouthwatering fries, and a x Rosé Cider in the New State x By Elyjah glass.

I had so much fun collaborating with the team at New State this past week to capture some new content for them. They’re genuinely some of the best people in town, so mask up, go see them this weekend, and celebrate this local treasure!
