There was something incredibly special about this session. These weren’t just birthday photos, they were a celebration of a new chapter. From the very beginning, Shamar shared that she wanted this session to represent the woman she’s becoming, and when we were trying to find a date, I asked her, “What if we did it on your actual birthday?” It felt like the most meaningful way to step into a new year of life. We planned every detail together, from the colors to the flowers to the garden setting, but more than anything, we wanted these photos to feel like ‘her’ free, joyful, and authentic. Shamar has such a beautiful spirit. She has a way of making everyone around her feel seen, loved, and comfortable, and she carries herself with a kindness that’s impossible to miss. Watching her simply laugh, breathe, and enjoy the moment reminded me why I love photography so much. It’s about so much more than taking beautiful pictures; it’s about preserving a season of life you’ll never get back. I truly believe everyone deserves to celebrate themselves, and it was such an honor to help her welcome this new chapter on the very day it began. Happy Birthday, Shamar.
