I feel like I say this at every stage, but aren't one-year-olds are just the BEST?! 🥹

They're full of personality, constantly on the move, and always showing off some new skills! One minute they're giving you the sweetest little grin, and the next (usually when you look away for 0.5 seconds) they're sprinting off to explore the world!! 😂

As much as I love newborn sessions, there is something so special about documenting this stage too. They're not tiny babies anymore, but they're still so wonderfully little!

You don't need an elaborate setup or a big celebration to capture this season! Just a little room to explore and space to let their little personality shine!

These are the moments you'll miss someday... the wobbly steps, the curious little looks, the belly laughs, the squishy little leg rolls, allll the things! 🥰

If your toddler doesn't sit still for family photos, you're exactly the kind of family I love working with! 😘

The magic happens in the midst of the chaos!

Getting family photos taken with littles can feel stressful because very few toddlers willingly sit and pose for photos - so I don't expect them to!

My sessions are usually filled with running, exploring, picking flowers, asking for snacks, wanting to be held, and doing all the wonderfully unpredictable toddler things! My job is to gently guide the session in a way that still creates beautiful, genuine images rather than the unflattering candid snaps that husbands sometimes get a bad rap for. 😂

This sweet little guy was full of energy, and instead of expecting him to perform for the camera, we followed his lead.

We played.
We explored.
We embraced the little moments in between.

And out of it, we captured beautiful family memories, celebrated this exciting season before baby arrives, and documented all the joy that comes with having a curious two-year-old. (And sweated a little, of course 🥵)

Let this be your reminder that your family doesn't need to be perfectly posed to create beautiful photos.

I totally get it!

While I truly believe your home does NOT need to look perfect for newborn photos, that's exactly why so many families choose my lifestyle studio for their newborn session!

‼ 📆 AN IMPORTANT NOTE: If you're looking to schedule newborn photos this year, please keep in mind that July is officially FULL for newborn sessions!

I highly recommend reserving your newborn session as far in advance as you feel comfortable, as I only take about 4-5 due dates per month so I can make sure every family gets on my calendar once baby arrives!

I have a couple newborn openings remaining in August and September, and I'm now booking October, November, and December due dates! 🤰🏼

Several months ago, I had the privilege of photographing these two love birds during fall mini sessions!

This week, we braved the World Cup crowds and I got to spend the evening capturing their engagement photos before their wedding this November!! 🥹🫶

We had THE best time!

The weather was perfect, they made my job incredibly easy, and their chemistry is one of those things you can't pose or manufacture. They just naturally have so much fun together!! 🥰

One of my favorite things about photography is getting to document people through different seasons of life! Sometimes it starts with family photos. Sometimes a mini session. Sometimes a newborn.

And sooooometimes, I get lucky enough to witness the love story unfold from the very beginning! 😭😍

One of the most common things I hear before an in-home newborn session is:
"The house is a mess!"

And every single time, I remind parents the same thing:

Your home does not need to be perfect!

Years from now, your children won't notice whether everything was spotless or whether every blanket was folded neatly.

What they'll see is where they were rocked to sleep.
The couch where everyone piled together for snuggles.
The home where your family grew.

The best newborn photos aren't about perfect houses or decorations in *just* the right place.

I ended this studio session with the FULLEST heart!! 🤍🥰

Watching this family interact felt so familiar, as their little ones are very close in age to mine! The big sis dynamics, the constant movement, the snack requests 😂😂 - it all felt so relatable!

This newborn session was also such a sweet reminder that the most meaningful photos aren't about everyone being perfectly cooperative and smiling at the camera!

Lifestyle photography is about documenting your family exactly as you are in this season. Your REAL life! 😅👏
