Their mission to advocate for s*x trafficking survivors is one that is near and dear to my heart. 🦋
My degree in Marketing & Social Media has allowed me to use my digital media knowledge to create online safety action plans that support teens and parents in Stone and Taney Counties, Missouri.
I hope that by utilizing these safety tips, parents can take a step towards prevention in their communities. Pathway’s believes that “Education is the first step towards prevention” and with Missouri being 4th highest in the country for s*x trafficking, awareness can go a long way. 💙
Hey Stone & Taney County parents!! 💙🦋Instagram just rolled out automatic "Teen Accounts" for minors. Instead of parents having to hunt through confusing settings, the app now locks down privacy by default for anyone under 18.👏
How is it helpful to parents?
No more random DMs: Teens can only get messages from people they already follow. Strangers are completely blocked out!!
Auto Sleep Mode: Notifications shut up from 10 PM to 7 AM
The Lock: Kids under 16 cannot turn these safety settings off unless you give them the green light from YOUR phone.
How to turn it on in 2 minutes:
You just need to link your account to theirs:
1. Open your Insta, go to Settings.
2. Tap Supervision (or Family Center).
3. Hit Invite Your Teen and text them the link. Once they accept, you're locked in.
How to stay updated:
Instagram will send you weekly reports showing who they’re messaging and how much screen time they’re racking up.
