the Barred Owls at Heron Haven have been more active lately, especially since it appears a raccoon family (not pictured) has taken over their previous nest! Not sure where they relocated to but they've definitely been out and more visible from the walking paths lately!

Great Egret at Desoto NWR this past weekend. Went to find the White Faced Ibis group that was spotted there (no luck) but was pleasantly surprised to see a group of these guys hanging out in the wetlands towards the entrance! ✨️

061's newborn 🐄
While exploring my friends family's property/woodland area between fields, we saw quite a few of their cattle! It's calving season right now, and this little guy seemed pretty fresh still, covered in amniotic fluid (or maybe mom's saliva). These two were a bit away from the rest of the herd, so the serenity of the open land with their stark contrast was just wonderfully eye-catching 💛

While getting a ride from my friend around the area, I was hanging out the window of his truck while visiting his father in the Doniphan cemetery- where these 3 sat inside the fence! A group of about 30 or so were in the field behind the cemetery, so unfortunately the fence got in the way too much for a good shot of them.

Sandhill Cranes in a field just outside my friends farm ✨️ my Friday morning river shots turned out much better than my Sunday ones, since the gloomy weather made the sky too overcast for the sun to peek over the horizon and cast that beautiful orange glow on the Platte river. However, on my way back to my friends property, these guys made up for the dreary sunrise experience 🫶

Sandhill Cranes !
Went out to Doniphan, NE this morning for their sunrise exodus from the river- I'll be back out tomorrow through Sunday, but with the possible rain & snow, I wanted to be sure i got to capture this moment again this year with good weather 💛
Also took a moment for these red-winged blackbirds & robin! More photos to hopefully come from this weekend soon!

Hey! It's been a while since I've posted!
Once the weather starts to get colder, I tend to go into a photo hibernation- especially if there's not any pretty snow here :(
However, I did manage to get out to Desoto NWR in January and saw these Bald Eagles having an afternoon snack on the ice ❄️🦅
