🎒📚 Back-to-School Mini Sessions – August 8! 📚🎒

Remember when they were tiny enough to think a backpack was bigger than they were? Now they’re picking out outfits, rolling their eyes when you ask for a picture, and insisting they “don’t need your help.”

Time has a funny way of speeding up.

Before the homework battles, early alarms, forgotten lunches, and “Mom/Dad, I need this for school…tomorrow!”—take a few minutes to freeze this chapter of their story.

Join David Hager Photography on August 8 for our 30-minute Back-to-School Mini Sessions featuring:
🚌 A real school bus
🪑 An antique wooden school desk
📚 Classic books
🍎 Bright red apples
🌍 A vintage globe and school-themed props

One day, these won’t just be school pictures…

They’ll be reminders of missing teeth, little smiles, oversized backpacks, and the child who somehow grew up while you were busy packing lunches and saying, “Have a great day at school!”

Because the days may seem long…but the years are unbelievably short.

📅 Saturday, August 8
⏰ Limited appointments available.

📩 Message David Hager Photography today to reserve your child’s Back-to-School Mini Session before they’re gone!

The New River Gorge Bridge is one of West Virginia’s greatest engineering achievements and a symbol of the state. It changed travel through southern West Virginia and became one of the most recognizable bridges in America.

Before the bridge

For decades, crossing the New River Gorge was a major problem. Travelers on what is now U.S. Route 19 had to descend into the gorge on narrow, winding roads, cross near the river, and climb back up the other side. The trip could take about 40 minutes.

As part of the Appalachian Development Highway System, West Virginia wanted a faster connection through the mountains. A bridge across the gorge was chosen as the solution.

Design and construction

* Construction began in the early 1970s, with major work beginning after the project was awarded in 1973.
* The design was created by Michael Baker International for the West Virginia Division of Highways.
* The construction contract went to the American Bridge Division of United States Steel Corporation.
* Workers used massive cable systems and temporary towers to move steel pieces across the gorge while building the arch.

The bridge was built from Cor-Ten steel, which develops a protective rust-like coating and does not require traditional painting.

Opening day

The bridge officially opened on October 22, 1977. It cost about $37 million and was approximately 3,030 feet long with a main arch span of 1,700 feet. The roadway sits about 876 feet above the New River.

When it opened, it was the longest steel arch bridge in the world, a title it held until 2003. It remains the longest single-span steel arch bridge in the Western Hemisphere.

Bridge Day tradition

The bridge also became famous for Bridge Day, an annual festival that began officially in 1980. On that day, the bridge closes to traffic and attracts thousands of visitors. It is especially known for BASE jumping, where approved participants jump from the bridge under controlled conditions.

***FIRST RESPONDER CONTEST***

Below are 8 photos, each one with a first responder organization name. These were selected from my post last week (I wanted 10 but only 8 were nominated & responded with the requested info in time). From now until July 19 at 5pm, the top 2 with the most "votes" (aka likes) on their photo will win a free photoshoot for their organization in August. They will receive digital images from the shoot that they can use for whatever they'd like. So vote for your favorite & share with your friends & family so they can vote too. Good luck everyone.

Looking for two volunteers! Must have great leg and arm strength, not afraid of heights, willing to travel, and not skeered of anything.

You’re responsible for your own travel costs, court fees and jail time. I will cover lunch 😂😂.

Obviously this is a joke….but the booking senior sessions for fall isn’t!!!!

🚨 CALLING ALL FIRST RESPONDERS! 🚔🚑🚒

This August, I’d like to give back to the men and women who serve our communities every day.

David Hager Photography is looking to photograph a few local first responder departments in Logan and the surrounding areas FREE OF CHARGE! This is for department/group photos (not individual family sessions).

Here’s how it will work:

📍 Tag a first responder, department, or agency you’d like to nominate in the comments.
📍 Share this post to help spread the word.
📍 I’ll compile the Top 10 nominated departments, then I’ll post them in a public voting contest.
📍 The three departments with the most votes will receive a complimentary department photo session!

Eligible departments include:
🚓 Police Departments
🚒 Fire Departments
🚑 EMS & Ambulance Services
🚨 Sheriff’s Offices
👮 Correctional Officers
(Any other local first responder agency is welcome to be nominated!)

This is my small way of saying THANK YOU for everything you do for our communities.

So… who deserves to win? Tag them below! ⬇️

📍 Logan and surrounding areas only (let’s say 75 mile radius)

***EDITED TO SAY….once nominated, someone from that department please reply to the comment affirming that your dept would do the shoot so once selected it don’t go to waste 😁
