Happy World Photography Day! 📸

“I walk. I look. I see. I stop. I photograph.” — Leon Levinstein

That pretty much sums it up for me. ❤️
Photography has always been about noticing the beauty around me—the light, the wildlife, the landscapes, and those little moments that make me stop in my tracks.

The world gives us so much to photograph—we just have to look.

Apparently, our yard has been chosen as the next stop in this little dove’s journey to adulthood. 🕊️❤️

Baby doves, or fledglings, will leave the nest before they look completely grown or are fully independent. They spend time on the ground or in low, sheltered areas while they finish developing their flight skills and learn how to navigate the big world around them.

And even though they may look abandoned, Mom and Dad are usually nearby, keeping watch and returning to feed them. So if you find a young dove like this, the best thing to do is usually give it some space and let the parents continue doing their job.

This little one seems to have decided our yard is a pretty good place to grow up. I gave it a little food, took a few photos—because obviously 😂📸—and then left it to continue its very important baby-dove business.

Look at those scruffy baby feathers and that face! 😍 So sweet!!

I’ve been trying to find my way back to my photography lately, and sometimes that means going back to the images I could never quite let go of.

This eagle was one of them.

I captured him taking flight while I was on a boat, at the very end of my lens, with branches everywhere. I’ve opened this image more times than I can count, always knowing there was something there—but never quite able to bring out what I saw.

Is it technically perfect? Nope. I was asking a lot from my camera, my lens, and eventually those poor pixels. 😂 But sometimes a photograph doesn’t have to be technically perfect to be worth saving.

Technology has changed. My editing has changed. And apparently, I’m still just as stubborn.

So I tried again.

I think this time, I finally found the photograph I knew was hiding in there. 🦅📷

Life has been a whirlwind lately, but I've been busy behind the scenes.

I've been working on a new post-processing style for my floral images, experimenting with a look that better reflects how I see them through my lens.

I'd love to hear your thoughts! Do you like this direction, or is there something you would change? 🌸📷

This sneaky warbler was a real comedian! He knew I was on a mission to snap his pic and he's all like 'nah, I'm good, human, I'll just fly around your campsite and troll you instead' 🤣.
I finally caught the little troublemaker in action.
He was totally playing hard to get! 😜
