Been a while since weβve shared one of these, but my pal Beek, who works over at NASA, reminded me of something worth looking up for β literally. πβ¨
On Tuesday, December 3rd, if youβre outdoors anywhere within this circle of opportunity, look up around 6:48 p.m. EST and youβll see the International Space Station gliding in from the northwest. Its path takes it roughly over Tallahassee, Tampa/St. Pete, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami β and with clear skies predicted, it should be a spectacular sight!
Itβll look like a bright star or maybe even Venus, and youβll be able to watch it for a good five minutes before it slips back around the Earth. π
If youβre watching with kids, tell them that tiny dot in the sky is actually the size of a football field, carrying real astronauts orbiting 250 miles above Earth β about the same distance from Orlando to Miami. It might look slow, but theyβre cruising by at 17,500 mph β thatβs five miles per second! π
And if that doesnβt get them excited about space travel... a trip to the Kennedy Space Center surely will. ππ©βππ¨βπ
