Birding Photo Checklist: Reddish Egret ✔️

Back in March we drove to Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. While the scenery wasn’t exactly what I had hoped for, I was super excited to finally get to see this beautiful bird in person!!

Their behavior is quite entertaining to watch. They do these very sporadic movements while hunting for prey.. Sprinting one way..then out of nowhere, abruptly turning around and going back the other direction! Then BAM!! Using their long neck, they strike and sn**ch their prey!

Down the hatch! A Great Blue Heron, with a nice size fish! They are such amazing hunters! They’re one of my favorite birds to watch! The juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron in the background, was hoping to get him a little something… 😄 Gotta get your own, buddy!
