BASELINE

She’s lit perfectly,the background isn’t. I treat my background like a second subject, so this wasn’t done yet.

OLD HABIT

No strobes on the background? Just slow the shutter. It works; but you trade away your color and contrast to do it.

These images were shot exactly 1 minute apart with the same settings. The only difference? A BACKGROUND light.

Some clients prefer a darker, moodier feel. Others want a brighter, cleaner background. The goal isn’t to GUESS how to get there, it’s about being intentional with your lighting.
