A (belated) Merry Christmas and almost Happy New Year from me to you! Wishing all of you a joyful and healthy 2026.
Found this gem that I shot for cordandthekitchen in my camera roll recently and it sent me on a search for images from various food and brand sessions I never shared- that being said, prepare to hear from me a bit more in the new year!
Growing up, my parents always made it a tradition to do steamed stone crab legs on NYE. So tell me in the comments: are you a fancy ring-in-the-new-year sort of person/family, or do you keep it simple? I love hearing about everyone’s traditions!

I’ll get straight to the pint- photographing for last month was a dream come true! Swipe to see their August featured flavors- some nostalgic, back-to-school fun! (Dunkaroos?? Come on!!) They don’t make a bad flavor, seriously. Now excuse me while I go stare into my freezer and will a pint or two to appear magically.

Today feels like a good day to put some pizza back on the feed. 🍕 Our church had a fall party this afternoon, and the truck was there for the event. I grabbed the Buffalo Chicken and the Carnivora pies to take home - they were SO good. 10/10!

Just a little appreciation post for Beatnik on the River in Chicago. HIGHLY, highly recommend this spot from for anyone looking for a unique and aesthetically pleasing dining experience. The atmosphere, the food, the service, the people watching on the river…10/10. Pictured here is the Killer King mocktail and their Baby Gem salad.

On the count of three, everyone say “kolache!!” Wait, did someone say The Salty Donut x 4 Rivers Smokehouse??? 🤤👀

If you’ve never had a kolache, I’d like to introduce you to this legendary collaboration…it is SO dang good.

This is The Salty Donut’s new savory menu item- a kolache filled with 4Rivers’ famous brisket burnt ends (plus onions and cheese), and is only available on weekends at the Orlando/Audubon Park location of the iconic donut shop. If you’re a 4R fan (I mean, who’s not??) and you appreciate a high quality brioche, you’ve gotta try this. Trust me.

Who’s planning on grabbing some of these to share (or keep for yourself, zero judgement here) with your friends and fam?? 🙋🏼‍♀️

Did you partake in yesterday? My best friend and I stopped by The Salty Donut for the first time and loved what we got! Pictured here are the blueberry cake, guava and cheese, and peaches + cream.

Holy cannoli! The new + improved Anchor & Odyssey website is live!

After realizing almost two years ago that I wanted to truly pivot this business, I made the decision to go all-in with this website and only offer the services that fit the new mission + vision: use my photography skills to help restaurants (creative entrepreneurs, I haven’t forgotten about you!) succeed in an increasingly digital world.

This website is different than A+O pages of the past: it’s less about me and more about you, the people who tirelessly serve our communities through food, one of humanity’s common denominators.

With this relaunch, I’m beta-testing a new offer (only 2 spots available until June!) for social media marketing, designed specifically for restaurants and bakeries. This fall, I earned a certification for SMM, and plan to take those efforts further in 2022 so that A+O can be the best possible asset to you. This beta offer is $275 per month, with a 3 month commitment required so we can start to see + track results.

It’s been a loooooong time coming (seriously- like over a year and a half), but the A+O website is about ready!

GROWTH.

It happens, but not overnight. In January 2017, I realized I had an interest in food photography, but had no experience as a food blogger or anything of that sort. After reaching out to several bakeries and restaurants asking if I could take photos of their menu items for “portfolio building,” Sister Honey's was kind enough to tell me yes.

I brought in my limited “props” I had at the time, which was literally these paper sheets designed to look like different wood grain countertops, and carefully arranged a few cupcakes using gloved hands. And you know what? I was freakin’ proud of the shots I got. It was a brand new subject matter for me, but I loved it enough that it prompted me to go down the path of becoming a food photographer.

Since then, I’ve watched a handful of webinars on the topic, invested in the restaurant photography course by Foodtography School (who I credit with much of my knowledge now), and I’ve practiced, practiced, practiced. Yesterday I swung back by the same bakery and bought a couple cupcakes with the intent of seeing how much I’ve grown. Hopefully it’s clear by looking at these photos that I understand my camera and how light works much more now than I did almost five years ago.

Same subject, close to the same 3 angles, over four and a half years apart. (First three photos are January ‘17, last three were shot yesterday.)

By the way, that cupcake was just as delicious as it looks. 😋
