Your next family night out is closer than you think!

This is our second freebirdsbaseball game of the season and we are already eager for next year!

We left from our house in Thermalito and it took us 28 minutes to Bryant Field. We parked on the street by Ellis Lake (because those *foul* 🐓 balls can be wild!)

We went on a Friday night because of Fireworks Fridays, and we opted for the tickets in the Dugout Club (directly behind the dugout) with the all you can eat upgrade. Tickets were $25 each, our kid ticket was $15 (remember, all you can eat food!) and they usually have a coupon code if you look on their website freebirdsbaseball.com.

The energy is off the charts. The management and owners of the team have done an amazing job facilitating the Family Fun aspect- there is a kids zone, games throughout with fan participation, and it feels safe enough to let our kids roam free during the game - there was even a group of kids who formed a train shouting “Let’s go Freebirds” and were marching around the stadium during the 8th inning.

The mascot, W***y, is such a hoot! W***y is a wild chicken to represent the “Free Birds” that roam in Yuba City, and a nod to the aircraft “birds” at Beale Airforce Base in Marysville.

The merch is also off the charts. I mean, look at it! Whoever came up with the color scheme needs an award. So bright, fun and colorful.

The food is delicious too, with waffle garlic fries and other baseball park bites and drinks, and for a fraction of the cost of the large baseball parks.

And our youngest *caught* a ball tonight that one of the players threw over. He wanted to get it signed by player Diego after the game! They are so generous with their time for the kids!

We are so grateful to Lon Hatamiya for being on the heartsofgold.media podcast and sharing with us this amazing gem of a team right here in our own backyard.

Be sure to follow freebirdsbaseball for the latest updates on games and tickets!

Just a few days late to my August recap. A lot happened this month. And there’s a lot planned for this month until the end of the year. The only way I know how to make time slow down is too document it with photos. If you have a better way, I would love for you to share it with me. 😅

If you know me at all, you know that I am not a fan of scary movies. My husband keeps trying to get me to watch Obsession and I refuse. However, I really enjoy supporting local student artists, creatives and filmmakers as they make their mark on our community. I am so excited to take my kids to see what the ohsvideopro with director jetflickers has created.

With the weather we are having this week, this premier came at the perfect time.

Head to orovillestatetheatre in downtownoroville to get your tickets!

Showtimes:
Saturday 9/5 - 6:30pm
Sunday 9/6 - 6:30pm

Tickets are $7 each and concessions will be available for purchase to help support our historic theater.

She’s witty, smart and brilliant in every way.

Every year on their birthday, we stay up and tell the story of how each kid was born. Last night after the story, we pulled up old Facebook posts of things that the kids said over the years. Ginny were some of the funniest quotes I’ve heard and I’m not just saying that cause she’s my kid. 😜

I don’t know about you, but we’re feelin’ 22!

Here’s the rest:

#20 - Support each other’s dreams, no matter how weird or outlandish they might seem. This doesn’t mean they will happen- but when you dream with them, they will feel seen.

#21 - It’s important for each of you to be doing something you love. Make sure you help the other know you support them in this.

#22 - The bed doesn’t have to be made perfectly and the dishwasher can be loaded wrong and it doesn’t mean the other person is a bad person. 😆

Bonus advice! lots and lots of therapy 😅😅😅 Growing up together is an amazing gift, AND ALSO, growing up together has its own challenges. Invest in therapy together and by yourselves.

Oh! And document everything of course, so you can look back on your lives together and be grateful for how far you’ve come and get excited for the future ⭐️

Happy 22 years to being married to my favorite person, Jaymes Lackey. So grateful that I am on thick ice with you.❤️😍😘

Which myth have you believed?

The more I talk to people in the wild, the more I think of the computer game minesweeper. You never know what is going to unlock for you and also some of the landmines that you might encounter.

As an introverted person, my natural instinct is to avoid having conversations with people especially ones that I don’t know really well.

With all of the events happening around graduations right now and then with the summer gatherings, I’m choosing to lean into minesweeper and making it a see what kind of relationships there might be to uncover.

are you an introverted person? Do you relate to this? Or is there a better analogy?
