𝘽𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 & 𝘼𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧

One fine summer morning recently, I had the pleasure of capturing a dual purpose session for one of the cutest little families. Celebrating •two• important moments is always fun, but when you get to be the one 𝒄𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 those moments, it makes the importance and the vision even more meaningful.

As with all sessions, I like to let the rhythm define itself as we go. The prompts, the posing, the authenticity of both personality and spirit. It's always a 100/10 on the ratings scale because the magic shown afterwards is completely natural, completely real and completely beautiful. I always, 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 pride myself on not only preserving that magic, but enhancing it in a way that really draws you back to that precise moment. The sky, the water, the feel of the sun, the rush of the breeze, the sand on your skin, the chatter amongst your people...all of it. That's where the inspiration for the vision of the 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡 images comes from. It's the binding of the book for the story you're telling. 𝙀𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜.

True to life. Colorful. Warm. Bright and bold. If I were to try to define my '𝒔𝒕𝒚𝒍𝒆' those are the words and phrases I would use. I see the world and all of it's moments in brilliant colors. I want you all to see it that way, too. 💙

You may recognize this cutie, Evie, from a recent Mommy & Me session. Well, you know there is no way to leave Dad out of the photo fun--especially for his very first Father's Day! 🤗 Daniel showed up with an extra special bunch that included his Dad and Grandpa, so immediately the session was doubly special. Generational, even! (We also snuck a couple of Mom & Evie, too! 🤭)

It's always important to highlight familial bonds and relationships during sessions. Why? Because at the end of the day, the photos may be all we have to look back on years down the road. We'll always have the memories ingrained in our minds, the lessons taught and mannerisms learned in our day to day actions and thought processes, the momentary blurp of a feeling, or a reminder of a fragrance if the wind blows it gently our way. Photos, however, we can hold in our hands. Literally look at a moment frozen in time and immediately place ourselves there, back in time. In that moment. 🖼

Dads, don't be afraid to throw yourself into the moment with your kiddos in-front of the camera. Let yourself go back to being a big kid. Shower them with affection. Race them, chase them, tickle them, love on them. Not only will you be glad you did, but when they look back on those photos, they will too. Their protector. Their adventure buddy. Their superhero accomplice. Their Daddy. Their #1 man. 🫶

𝑯𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 2𝒏𝒅 𝑾𝒆𝒅𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑨𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒘𝒐 𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒔!🎊🩷
Two years ago today, I was overjoyed to have the privilege of traveling down to Fort Lauderdale to capture their beautiful beachside + yacht wedding. All of the details, both big and small, still dance along perfectly within my memory-even the sixpence under Bre's foot in her sandal.🩴

The hot pink and orange color scheme melted perfectly against the light sand, brilliant blue sky and charming aqua waters. Those dearest to their hearts watching the celebration from the skies were eloquently and quietly placed in key places so as to have them close. Bre, placed hers within her bouquet and Travis kept them pinned inside his jacket, close to his heart. The first-touch and ceremony were equally close in measure when it came to raw, emotion-filled moments that literally could only have been created because the two exchanging those promises and vows were perfectly made to match. ♾️

After the ceremony...yacht time ensued! Bre changed into her reception dress upon arrival and a surprise reveal was awaiting her mom, Amanda. Bre had had Amanda's wedding dress altered, with her permission, to wear! It was gorgeous, and perfectly Bre! What could be better? Pairing Amanda's revisioned dress with a string of Grandma's pearls! 😍

Dancing, sipping, photo ops, stormy weather and true memory-making carried on for the rest of the night until we made it back to the dock. From there, we all returned to the resort to change, eat and end the night. The resort was AMAZING! And yes, if you were wondering, my favorite travel partner was there waiting...for he & I to get Taco Bell and some refreshments! 🤣 🍻

Bre and her family hold a very special, tightly wrapped place in my heart. Our first meeting was in 2021 for a Family Portrait Session. We stayed in contact after the session, and even when tragedy occurred within their family, they let me know. 2021 lead me to photograph Bre's wedding in South Florida, and her sister, Haley's wedding in Indiana. They've become like family, and for that I am wholeheartedly grateful! 🩷

Amy's gallery has made it's way to her inbox and I couldn't be more thrilled! Or in awe. Such timeless beauty. Truthfully, exquisite! 😍

Amy reached out a couple of weeks back about her birthday trip that was coming up. She really wanted to celebrate the milestone with an early morning beach session because their was importance behind the waterfront tradition. Well, anyone that knows me knows I LOVE the calm, quiet, beautifully pasteled aura of early morning beach sessions, so of course, there was no way that I could let this slip by! (Fun fact, too, our hometowns are less than an hour drive from each other back in my home state!)

There's no real descriptive text needed for how the session went, because, well...just look at some of the photos! 😍🤩🤭 Our time together, however, did give me something to think about. And I thought about it. Deeply. I thought about this....

Ladies, and gents, 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆 yourselves! Not just once in a very great while. But often! New promotion or career? 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆! Birthday? 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆! Health and wellness journey milestone reached? 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆! Just because you feel great about yourself? 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆!

Far too often we take our wins- moments of joy, excitement, victory, feeling thankful, and confidence- and toss them to the side because life forces us to keep going, keep hustling. After a while, we lose sight of taking those moments for ourselves. Sometimes, (I'm guilty as charged!) we forget that its OKAY to relish in being happy, content, confident...unapologetically appreciative of who we are.

Life moves in seasons.
Self-esteem, self-confidence and self-love shouldn't, but undeniably, they do too.
