I read that Common Loons return to the same lake every Spring. I believe I photographed this same loon two years ago. I had never seen a loon so brown! This is from the tannins in the water. I’m guessing wherever it wintered caused the staining. When I saw this brownish loon again on the same lake, I was thrilled!

One of my very favorite things to do in the summer is kayaking at sunset and catching Loons in beautiful light and reflections on the water! Here is a fun one!

We had an opportunity to see Barn Owls in a cavity in a cliff wall. They were back kind of far and it was very hot. The combo did not make for great photo ops, but it was still fun to see. There were five owlets. We caught a possible glimpse of all five, but for sure saw three.
