To all the photographers out there currently fighting with light, wrestling with awkward poses, and wonder-critiquing every frame: take a deep breath.
We’ve all been thereβ€”and by "there," I mean looking back at early portfolio shots and wondering what on earth we were thinking.
When I first started out, my approach to lighting was essentially "hope for the best," and my posing strategy was "stand there and look natural" (which, as we all know, immediately makes a human forget how to hold their arms). Half the time, the lighting was completely all over the place, and the other half, it was practically nonexistent. Shadows fell in strange places, highlights were blown to oblivion, and every shoot felt like a chaotic experiment.
If your current work feels a bit messy or inconsistent, congratulationsβ€”you’re doing it right. Growth isn't pretty, and the only way to get comfortable with the chaos is to shoot through it.
Here is the secret nobody tells you when you're starting out: it’s not about how much you post; it’s about the quality of what you share.
In a world obsessed with feeding the algorithm every single day, it’s easy to feel like you have to post every frame just to stay relevant. But your social media isn't a dump bucket for raw memory cards; it’s your creative gallery.

Yall, I am the absolute sweetest person! I run my business with integrity and honesty!! It’s my mission to give people not just amazing quality work but an amazing experience as well.

I expect that in return from my clients! I will gladly send previews out early or send out certain images as long as I am able, if just asked nicely. What I am NOT OK with is someone lying about someone’s health to get images early. PLEASE don’t ever think you have to lie about someone’s health to retain an image!! This honestly pi**es me off and will result in our relationship business or otherwise being terminated!

I understand you all want your images back just as fast as I took them but I will not rush through just to make that happen. My work hopefully speaks for itself in regard to that.
