“She loves me”. That is what Jerrell said in a genuine tone when I told Deme to look at him right before these photos. Years of marriage, a growing family, and there is still noticeable love in their eyes when they look at each other. 💝

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Marissa. From start to finish, she was absolutely amazing. Not only did she capture every important moment of our wedding day, but she also captured the genuine emotions behind them. 💛Deme and I met when working for Children Services, we were young and still had so much that life needed to teach us. We had not seen each other for over 10 years prior to this photo session. When I shared with her that I have grown into a completely different person since my younger years, with grace, she reminded me that is the way it is supposed to be.

🌼We meet a lot of people on our journey in life, but Deme is one that I have not forgotten over the years because of her gentleness and kindness. We don’t always have to be the loudest person in the room to stand out, sometimes we stand out by being authentically benevolent.

🌻Upon meeting her, she was pregnant with her first child. I brought her all of the baby books I read when I was pregnant with my first. Several years and babies later, with a thrown in career change, I had the honor of capturing her maternity session.

TW (trigger warning): Miscarriage

♥ Have you ever had a moment that you looked up and thought to yourself "that has to be God". Well, that is what happened to every one of us during this special photo session. ✝

👣Leading up to this photo session, there were many sensitive conversations between Deme and I. She had disclosed that she had a miscarriage prior to this pregnancy. If you have followed my page for a while, you will know that this is a topic that is so very close to my heart.

🌈One of Deme's main requests were that a rainbow be incorporated into the photo session. It was to represent the rainbow that comes after the storm, celebrating their rainbow baby. I brought supplies for painted rainbow handprints to be placed on her belly by her children, and she brought rainbow-colored balloons.

☁ We had rescheduled the photo session 2x because it was important to the family that the weather not be gloomy, they wanted a bright sky for this celebration. We even changed the location just in case we ended up with a gloomy sky, so that I could incorporate some color from the background. The day of the photo session, the sky was less than desirable, but we decided to move forward. Right before the photo session, the sky started to clear up.

I told the family that we were going to move to a different spot in the park, get the rainbow balloons ready, and take the photo with a rainbow incorporated. After untangling the balloons, I handed them to the family and asked them to look up at them. Zach, their oldest son, yelled "there's a rainbow". I learned quickly that these silly boys liked to goof off (and they were in good company because I do too), so it was understandable when their mom replied with something along the lines of "quit playin with me".

💛💚💙💜To our surprise, we looked up to see a rainbow in the sky!!! 💛💚💙💜

✝ ❣ I know that this is a photography page, not a church sermon page. Friends, hear me out, when I decided to start this career, I dedicated it to the Lord. I promised Him that during my time as a photographer, I would pray for every family I encounter and love my clients with the best representation of the love of Jesus. I cannot pluck Him out of the storyline. If you have a relationship with Jesus, you know that a rainbow represents the goodness of His promises.

💛God was in the rescheduling.
💚God was in the location change.
💙God knew that choosing to use balloons would prompt me to have them look up at them. That lead her first born to see the rainbow in the sky.
💜 He was in the perfect timing.

➡And the part that is not often talked about is that He was there during the miscarriage.

💟Whatever heartbreak you are facing today, know this. He is close to the brokenhearted. He collects our tears. He turns His ear to hear. & if you are wandering, it is not too late to hand over that aching heart to a God who is in all the details.

When I was a little girl, one of my favorite things to do was dress up my pets. I can remember blowing up arm floaties on one of my cats (poor cat). 🐈
