Milo sprinting into the short work week and new month! I’ve been suffering from a bit of puppy fever lately in case you haven’t noticed 😅

Take this as a sign that if you have a puppy (or any age dog for that matter), you don’t have to wait until they have a perfect “sit” or “stay” before booking a photo shoot. Personally, I’m a sucker for personality pictures and action shots where a dog can just be a dog and let loose. Of course there’s always a few tricks to be used to get the more traditional shots if that’s what you prefer, but candids pictures are some of the very best ones that people come back to time and time again.

And if you have kids, it’s always fun to incorporate them as well! Swipe to see Milo and his human sibling 🥰

All pictures from the GSDCGNH AKC scent trial (including the Detective class) are up! Congratulations to everyone who had a qualifying run and/or earned a title last weekend! I’ll be at a few upcoming dog trials in CT and Long Island this summer so hope to catch some of you there!

You can learn so much from these split-second moments that often go unnoticed in real time or even on video.

Watch where the dog’s eyes go, changes in tail position, shifts in behavior… especially as they approach a hot hide. There’s a lot of information in those tiny details 👀

I had a great time watching so many hardworking teams compete in the German Shepherd Dog Club of Greater New Haven Scent Trial last weekend! The venue was great and allowed the judges to set up some really interesting and challenging searches. I appreciate all the hard work put in by the club members, judges, and volunteers who kept things running smoothly all weekend.

I promised you guys an update, and as of now I am still working through Saturday’s pictures. Indoor photos take quite a bit longer to edit due to having to Denoise them (especially when you’re operating on a 7 year old MacBook Pro) - so I appreciate your patience and promise they will be well worth the wait!

The weather is looking perfect for this weekend’s AKC Scent Trial out in Oxford, CT! I will be archiving all the 2025 trials on Monday, so this weekend is your last chance to grab your old pictures if you haven’t gotten around to it yet!

If you will be at this weekend’s trial, I always do private gallery requests with a discounted option to buy all the pictures from all your runs across both days. All you have to do is send me an email or DM with the classes you ran and your dog’s name and breed! I work on those pictures first as well, and it has the added advantage that you don’t have to scroll through everyone else’s pictures to find yours in the general gallery.

Looking forward to seeing all the great teams this weekend! Good luck and remember to have fun - your dog is happiest just being out there working with you, anything else you accomplish is just the icing on the cake!
