Freddy B'S Astrophotography

Freddy B'S Astrophotography Hi guys. I created this page to share my love and passion for photographing deep space. I will be posting new images every week depending on clear weather.

Enjoy!!!!

This large, diffuse emission nebula is Sh2-119 (Sharpless 119). It is a few degrees east of the North America nebula, in Cygnus. The bright star in the centre is 68-Cygni. Like the North America nebula, this gas cloud is about 1,800 light years away.

The Eagle Nebula is an active star-forming region 7,000 lightyears away that spans 70 lightyears across. It is host to scorching hot newborn stars that illuminate, carve and sculpt the surrounding gas and dust .The Eagle Nebula, also known as M16 in the , is probably best known because of the iconic Pillars of Creation, famously imaged by the Hubble Space Telescope. The pillars are regions of dark dust and gas contained within the Eagle Nebula that stretch about 5 lightyears long and hide embedded newborn stars from view

My latest shot from the last week. Cloudy weather has put a damper on things last few weeks.

The Lagoon Nebula, also known as M8, is a magnificent complex of hot gas and dark nebulosity located 5,000 light-years away from Earth in the constellation Sagittarius.
Inside this stellar nursery, the energetic processes of star formation create a huge chaos and a beautiful combination of colors. The red-glowing gas is resulting from high-energy starlight striking interstellar hydrogen.
The dark dust filaments inside the nebula were created in the atmospheres of cool giant stars and in the debris from supernova explosions. Small dark knots and globules that are condensing protostellar clouds are a sign that star formation is still happening.

The Crescent Nebula Complex also known as NGC 6888, Caldwell 27, or Sharpless 105 is an emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus, about 5000 light-years away from Earth.

The Crescent Nebula is formed by the fast stellar wind from the Wolf-Rayet star WR 136 (HD 192163) colliding with and energizing the slower moving wind ejected by the star when it became a red giant around 250,000 to 400,000 years ago. The result of the collision is a shell and two shock waves, one moving outward and one moving inward. The inward moving shock wave heats the stellar wind to X-ray-emitting (> 1 million degrees C) temperatures.

The Orion Nebula, also known as Messier 42 (or M42 for short), is the nearest star-forming region to Earth, located approximately 1,350 light-years away and is about 2 million years old. The billowing clouds of gas and dust are located in the Orion Constellation, just below Orion's Belt.

The Pinwheel Galaxy is one of billions of galaxies in the universe and is estimated to be about 21 million light years from earth. The Pinwheel Galaxy is one of the closest galaxies to earth and is about twice the size of the Milky Way Galaxy. It is thought to be home to more than a trillion stars.

Repeocess of previous data. Here are the Flaming Star and Tadpole Nebulas. Although appearing side by side, the Flaming Star nebula is almost 10 times closer to earth at only ~1500 light years whereas the Tadpole Nebula sits around 10,000-15,000 light years away. Both are areas of dense and active star formation.

Last weekends project. The Spaghetti nebula

Sh2-240, also known as Simeis 147, is a very large supernova remnant. The supernova is estimated to have occured about 100,000 years ago, at a distance of 3,000 light-years. This emission nebula straddles the region between Auriga and Ta**us.
