Due to COVID my friend lost her restaurant La Diosa De Los Moles in Paramount and kept her original restaurant Rocio’s Mexican Kitchen. Please keep her restaurant in mind if you live not too far away from Bell Gardens and support her restaurant. She is a very humble and strong woman who has overcome many obstacles coming to LA to work at an early age. You’d be helping someone from the immigrant community who’s been paving the way for others. Help circulate a brown/black/poc economy. You won’t find better mole anywhere else in Elay. 💯All of the moles are vegan and they have mushroom options vs choosing meat. I included the mole menu in the pics collage. Keep in mind she also sells enchiladas, empanadas, postres, tacos de chapulines, tacos feos y más. You can also buy her autobiography book which includes some recipes for $20 and can order food online for pickup through her site or order your food to be delivered by postmates or Uber eats. Thank you for reading and por favor apoyen si pueden. @ Rocio's Mexican Kitchen

Institutional racism was rooted since the beginning when these lands were stolen. The police originates from slave patrols and the black community have been refugees of fear and genocide for more than 4 centuries. The system isn’t broken, we need to break it. Anti-blackness exists in every community not just white communities. Call it out because not being a racist isn’t enough. Learn how to become an ally. Learn to become an antiracist. Reforming the police isn’t enough. Abolish the police. Abolish prisons. Otherwise mass incarceration and systems of oppression will still continue to exist. I’m not black so I can’t speak on behalf of the black community, the intention behind this message is for those who’ve seen anti-blackness in their current spaces but stay silent. Please don’t. Their cause is our cause. There is no liberation of any marginalized community without the liberation of the black community. Thank you for reading. Black Lives Matter. @ Los Angeles, California

Hoy cumple este instagram dos años. ✌🏽 Most of my favorite pictures has definitely been of my family. I have had the privilege to look through archives of video footage and photos my dad has shot of my life since I was a kid. It was something I was always genuinely curious about and would grab his video cameras. He was always cool about letting me mess with his stuff - it wasn’t until about four or five years ago I was able to save up for own camera. It’s been like a journal. I have begun organizing archives of photographs and have run into plenty of pictures I forgot I had. It’s one of those moments you step foot inside a time machine that transports you to different times. Something I have always tried to strive for is to set my intention to take photographs that can last lifetimes for the subject’s family and their next generations to come. And pues like ... hopefully que they like them haha Photography definitely connects me and reminds of my dad. This picture is definitely one of my favorite photographs and the one that kickstarted this Instagram. It was taken in Mendocino County which was about 12+ hours away from Los Angeles if you are driving. Definitely a time that provided me with a lot of learning and growth which I’m very blessed, happy and grateful for. 💯

I could provide a name with bad taste to title this photograph to be morbid but with everything going on I do not wish to be that darks. Usually crows are symbolic to warn us about dark times coming, bad omens/luck, and death. I would like to think of the crow as it is portrayed by one of my favorite films characters portrayed by Brandon Lee who is given a second chance at life to right the wrongs. Although we are not given a second life to right our wrongs I think now is a good opportunity to reflect on what we are grateful for, who we can advocate for those within reach(while social distancing), and to be there for the ones we love simply with a text, call, or even a video call. Subscribing to fear (although staying informed and being concerned about paying bills is completely valid 💯) is something our bodies can quickly pick up on leaving us more vulnerable. Try to take some time to fill yourself with pleasant thoughts and positive energía. It’s important to take some time for yourself if you can and to think what are we grateful for now. I appreciate all of the good resources I’ve come across and tengo mis pensamientos con toda la gente working in the front lines right now. Buena energia a todos y se cuidan! ✨🖤

📝 I love digesting as much history from my roots as much as I can. 💯 My abuelo showed me a book he has on los hermanos Zaizar the last time I went to visit Tamazula. 🎼

Eres Darks 🕷🦇 De mis favoritas fotografías de este año - gracias :) Thank you for helping me come out of my shell during the party I was scared about going to at first Jaja it turned out to be a fully liberating experience. Ese día descubrí que me gusta reggaeton jajaja ahora se puede bailarle más en las fiestas y no solo cantar canciones de metal o bailar música de los 80s/rock en tu idioma.

This is another perspective within the same sacred lands my abuelos met (from my fathers side) - this is on the hike they would hang out at cuando andaban más chavalos. We are looking at a vista they shared together as novios.
