Yesterday, I shared a picture of a backyard sparrow that we spotted at grandma's house ... when we aren't seeing those birds in the summer months, it's usually because some sort of bird of prey (like this American kestrel) is in the area. This one was on a back country road, nowhere near yesterday's sparrow, I promise, but still a neat thing to see!

Another photo from the backlogs in July! We see lots of sparrows at grandma's bird feeders throughout the summer months, but just because I'm used to them doesn't mean they aren't really cool-looking birds — so I wanted to share this one with you all!

Continuing the deep dive back into July's photos, I found a few more, including this one of a hawk soaring high overhead! What I like about this photo is that this hawk was SOOOO high up in the sky, and my camera gear still locked on for a nice photo — thankful for good gear to help me out!

OK ya'll ... it's back to Pennsylvania wildlife now (and we're also going back in time to July!) ... I have several photos I didn't post because I was busy with work and getting ready for my trip to Alaska, so the time has finally come to sift through them and find any I wanted to share — beginning with this little fawn who was peeking out of the woods at me one day while I was driving down a backroad!

Post 10 of 10 (LAST ONE) from my trip to Alaska: Eagles are one of my favorite animals to encounter, and Alaska has plenty of them, but this one came to find us, perched in the tree overlooking my family's backyard, spotted while we were leaving on one of the many wildlife expeditions they treated me to! Much like it looks back over its shoulder in the photo (do birds have shoulders?), I'll always look back fondly on the memories made on my 2026 Alaska visit!

Post 9 of 10 from my trip to Alaska: (Two in one day!) — Landscapes and scenic photos are not my specialty, but some of the scenes that we were able to see on this trip were well worth pulling my trusty old (and I do mean old) camera phone out of my pocket. Despite my own limitations and those of my phone's outdated camera, I loved how this one turned out. It’s taken from Independence Mine on Hatcher Pass Road.

Post 8 of 10 from my trip to Alaska: Today's post is dedicated to some of the "little critters" that I saw while we were out and about living our lives on my visit to Alaska. Some familiar subjects and some less familiar, but all were welcome and fun to spot.

Post 7 of 10 (no more question marks!) from my trip to Alaska! The sandhill cranes (mentioned in a previous post) did reveal themselves to us a couple of times on the trip (and if you're wondering how we found them, the ones in the second photo are showing off their vocal cords for us!). Another neat wildlife encounter close to home (not my home, but my family's, of course)!

Post #6 of ??? from my trip to Alaska! -- You can search far and wide for a moose in Alaska and have trouble finding one, but sometimes, one pops out of the woods while you're out looking for the cranes you just heard fly over your family's house :) Bro heard the birds flying over, so we walked down the road, and my sister-in-law trekked down the hill and spotted this moose just a few hundred yards away from us. Such a cool animal to encounter!

Post 5 of ??? from my Alaska Trip: Yesterday, I gave you a sneak peek at some of the birds we came across on our short day trip to Potter Marsh outside of Anchorage. Here is a small gallery with some other birds included, as well!
