As homage to Mental health awareness month I feel the need to share my own experiences. In the past mental health was overlooked and ignored, but I think in the past few years the recognition has come a long way. Acknowledging inner battles should be of the utmost importance, due to the effects on those going through struggles and their loved ones.
My family tragically lost a member, my sister, to su***de in 2020. Losing someone in this way is profoundly devastating, leaving behind a trail of questions, sorrow, and anguish. With that being said I want everyone to know that there is no such thing as being alone. People love you and need you.
Tilena is and will continue to be my greatest inspiration. She was the most expressive and outspoken person I know. She was 100% her self and owned it, expressing yourself shouldn’t be scary and she taught me that.
These pieces are very personal to me as they express such tough topics. From body image, anxiety, depression, and even self harm, I hope they speak to you in ways words cannot.
If you or someone you know is struggling with any type of mental health issues you are not alone, please reach out to the 24/7 national su***de and crisis lifeline at 988. They accept texts and calls.
