Well, I thought it was time for a Monochrome Monday, even though I know it’s not the most loved genre, but I’m bringing you all a wide array from my travels. Nevertheless, I hope you all have a great week and have great adventures planned this coming weekend.

For this Feather Friday, I’m showing you probably my favorite feather interaction of all time, and it just happened along the beaches of Florida. These Sanderlings put on a great show for me, and I just happen to be in the right spot with what I thought was great colors and light. I hope you enjoy these half as much as I enjoyed capturing them.

Well, we made it through another holiday weekend, and we find ourselves on Teton Tuesday. I hope you all had a great long weekend and came out safe. For this Teton edit, I found myself going a little creative, and I hope you don’t mind and come to enjoy this photo of mine from the famous Snake River overlook.

For this Feather Friday, I bring you this beachside heron along with a short story behind the moment.

I made it out to the beach shortly after 5 a.m. for blue hour at the Navarre Fishing Pier. At first, I had no intention of focusing on birds until after sunrise when they usually become more active and the light fits my camera gear a little better.

Instead, I found myself simply sitting there admiring the pastel colors spreading across the sky while the waves rolled in at my feet. That’s when I noticed this heron leaving the pier as the fishermen started showing up for the morning. He flew roughly 100 yards down the beach and landed maybe 30 feet away from me.

I stayed completely still and gave him a few minutes to settle in because I hoped he might move closer to the edge of the water where the waves and sunrise colors would line up behind him. I decided to leave my 70-200 on because I didn’t want a tight close-up. The conditions were just too beautiful not to include the scene around him.

A few minutes later, he pretty much followed the script perfectly and started working the shoreline for breakfast. That’s when I began experimenting with my camera position, laying in the sand, sitting low, even holding the camera above my head, trying to capture different angles of the moment and tell the story of the scene.

More than anything, it was just peaceful. A nearly empty beach, soft sunrise colors, and the sound of the surf rolling in. Meanwhile, this guy managed to swallow what looked like a foot-long fish in one gulp while I sat there completely distracted by the moment itself.

Just like that, breakfast was over, and within a minute he was gone as quickly as he had arrived.

I wanted to give you all a break from the coastal scene and show you another side of the Deep South for this Wall Art Wednesday. So I give you Oak Alley Plantation, and despite the sensitive history of this place, I found that the history should be focused upon the magnificent 300-year-old oak trees, and that was my focus paired with some great golden hour light. I truly hope you enjoy this piece of art and I’ll talk to you all Friday for a special feather day.

I would like to wish you all a happy Monday first off. I would like to thank you all for giving me last week as I was on vacation back in Florida doing some artistic stuff that I hope you will enjoy, but here is the stuff that I was speaking of dedicated for this motion, Monday.

Wildlife Wednesday

There’s something special about the silent world of owls. Some hide deep within the leaves… some watch from the shadows… and some stare straight through the lens as if they know you’re there.

These moments are why I love wildlife photography — not just documenting animals, but capturing the feeling of sharing a quiet moment with something truly wild.

From a curious owlet in the nest to a Barred Owl tucked among spring greens, every encounter reminds me how important it is to slow down and notice the beauty around us.

Which photo is your favorite tonight?
Golden perch portraitOwlet in the nestHidden among the leaves

If these images made you stop scrolling for even a second, I’d truly appreciate a share to help more people discover and appreciate wildlife through photography.
