🌟 A Little Heart-to-Heart About Kids' Online Safety 🌟
Hey everyone!
I hope you’re all doing great. I wanted to share something super important that’s been on my mind lately: keeping our kids safe online. As a mom and a photographer, this is something I care deeply about.
You might have noticed that I haven’t been posting as many session updates on social media recently. That’s because I’ve decided not to share photos of kids’ faces or anything identifiable online anymore. Our kids’ online footprints are huge, and once a photo is out there, it’s really hard to control what happens next. For their safety, I think it’s best to keep those sweet moments off public platforms.
I know this might seem surprising, especially since social media has been a big part of my business. It hasn’t been an easy shift, and I totally get that other photographers might handle things differently. This isn’t a dig at anyone’s choices – every photographer has their own way of doing things, and I respect that completely.
Going forward, I’ll only be sharing detail shots – like little shoes in the dirt or tiny hands holding mom’s hair. I will keep older photos up, but any new photos will be focused on these beautiful, non-identifiable moments. In addition, my website has more privacy settings than I can access on social media but I will discuss any photos used on my wesbite before posting.
I just wanted to encourage everyone to think about how far-reaching social media can be and how important it is to protect our kids’ privacy when we can. It’s up to us to make sure we’re looking out for their best interests.
Thanks so much for understanding and sticking with me. Let’s keep making beautiful memories while keeping our kiddos safe!
Lots of love,
Alyssa
