The rhythm of the house, and even how love somehow stretches to make room for one more.

I love this photo of everyone’s hands on the baby. It’s so simple, but it says so much. Protection. Pride. “You’re ours.”

And watching the parents and two older toddlers love on their new brother? That was the best part.

All the kisses and tiny hands trying to be gentle is just the sweetest thing I get to do in my job.

There’s something about the mountains that makes everything feel a little more magical.

There’s just something about a dad and his daughter.

The way she runs to him and he automatically reaches for her. No big moment. Just instinct.

Dads have a special relationship with all of the joking around, shoulder rides and quiet protection that doesn't even have to be announced.

A perfect photo isn’t about standing still and forcing a smiling at the camera.

It’s more about capturing the real emotion that comes from a genuine interaction.

I was born in the mid 80s and the only professional photos outside of being a flower girl at my uncle‘s wedding we ever had was a singular trip to JCPenney‘s for the most cheesy poses photos ever. While they were technically well executed, I look back at them and I can’t help but laugh because they were so inauthentic to who we were as kids.

Don’t get me wrong, JCPenney photos have their place if you’re looking for a gaudy ugly sweater session on the cheap, but the buck stops there. MY goal as your photographer is to capture something that actually feels like you.

When the lighting is right and the connection is really genuine… that’s what makes a photo feel magical.

The magical photos that seem to freeze a moment in time, are the ones that you will continually look back on for years to come and in an instant- transport you right back to that moment. Pictures are an investment in the memories that you will look back on for the rest of your life. Don’t let it slip by.
