Not my typical lighthearted, “I love love” post today.
But sometimes life isn’t lighthearted.
This weekend, our small town experienced a tragedy. Dusty Dalley lost her life in an ATV accident, and Bekah Hale remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
Dusty was one of my favorite people to photograph. Her family believed in me when I was first starting out, and I’ve been lucky to capture so many milestones for them over the years. Just a few weeks ago, after softball pictures, Dusty stayed behind to take a few extra photos. She did aerials, handstands, and even pitched a softball straight at my camera. We laughed, took our time, and had so much fun. Looking back, I’m so grateful I wasn’t in a hurry that day.
Dusty was kind, genuine, and the type of person who led quietly but powerfully. She was a wonderful friend to Lucy and someone who made those around her better. We will miss her deeply.
Bekah holds a special place in my heart. This year, she volunteered to help Molly in dance. From the very beginning, she showed incredible patience, kindness, and love. There are very few places I can leave Molly without feeling anxious, but with Bekah, I felt complete peace. She made Molly feel included, capable, and loved. I pray every day for her healing and comfort as she faces the difficult road ahead.
