Capoeira School SSC recently reached a significant milestone by hosting its 1st Capoeira SSC Batizado in San Diego at Bookabl Studio in Oceanside. This special weekend celebration focused on student belt promotions, where graduation belts were awarded as symbols of knowledge, commitment, and the deep connection each capoeirista has built with the art form.

Led by Estagiária Areia and Mestre Xuxo, the event immersed participants in Afro-Brazilian tradition through a vibrant schedule of music workshops, maculelê classes for children, and energetic rodas. The Los Fallbrook Warriors of Fallbrook U9 All-Stars battled hard against visiting Carlsbad Youth Baseball of Carlsbad All-Stars, but came up short in a 10-6 contest. Both teams showcased impressive defense and loud bats throughout the game, creating plenty of exciting moments on the field. The Warriors fought to chip away at the deficit, but Carlsbad held on to secure the win.

Despite the outcome, the Warriors displayed heart, hustle, and determination from first pitch to final out. On to the next one.

Some days you walk away with images. Other days you walk away with something that feels more like a gift.

This was one of those days.

These kids from  stepped onto that old stage with nothing but their instruments, their nerves, and everything they’ve been working toward. No production crew. No pyrotechnics. Just young musicians trusting themselves under the lights, and absolutely delivering.

What I love most about my work is this: I can’t give them back the feeling they had in that moment. But I can make sure they never forget it. Twenty years from now, they’ll look at these images and remember exactly how it felt to stand on that stage, the weight of the guitar, the hum of the room, the moment the music took over.

That’s why I do this. Not for the gear (this is expensive). Not for the edit. For the memories that deserve to last a lifetime.

To these musicians, you were everything that afternoon. Keep playing. The world needs to hear you.

Another killer night behind the lens at McGuffie’s Live. There is truly nothing like the energy in this intimate setting when the lights go down and the haze hits the stage.

Last night was a heavy one, we had four incredible bands make the trip down from LA to serenade San Diego with their “Sick” sounds. Swipe through to see some of my favorite captures from the sets by Velas Negras, Chalice Sect, and The Darker Places.

But let’s be real, the highlight for me is always getting my favorite goth outfit, Chalice Sect, back in front of my camera. Their stage presence never fails to deliver that perfect dark aesthetic I love to shoot. I also got excited with putting on some face paint 🤩

I’m hanging out at the historic AVO Playhouse for the 15th Annual Vista Strawberry Festival, and you have to see these incredible young musicians from School of Rock Oceanside. They are truly playing their hearts out on this stage!

There is something so special about watching these students follow “the path to the stage”. You can see the confidence and community they’ve built with every guitar riff and powerhouse vocal. It’s the perfect vibe for a Sunday in the heart of Vista.

The AVO Playhouse itself is such a vibe—it was originally a movie theater built in 1948 before being elegantly restored for live performances like this. If you’re wandering Main Street today, duck inside to escape the sun and catch some of the best live entertainment the festival has to offer.

Nothing beats supporting local talent and grabbing some strawberry treats!

The Tautiare Polynesian Dancers have been bringing the island energy to Bookabl Studios. After weeks of hard work, dedication, and nonstop rehearsals, they’re ready to take the stage tonight and showcase the beauty, strength, and spirit of Polynesian culture.

From every drum beat to every graceful movement, these dancers have been pouring their hearts into tonight’s performance, and it’s going to be unforgettable.
