This is my 1999 Isuzu Amigo soft top. It’s a rare historic vehicle. It’s typically used as a rental. Hard to believe, huh? It’s in rough shape thanks to a rental gone wrong by people I thought were friends. I’m still heart broken by the damage they caused to it. It’s cost thousands to repair and I’m not even close to finished.

Yes, it’s being handled in court as well. It’s just heartbreaking. I rented this vehicle out because it was unique and I wanted others to be able to enjoy it. It wasn’t something you saw every day. When I bought it, it was a be**er. I made payments on it from a buy here, pay here. I worked my ass off to make those payments too.

I worked hard to get it into a nice, rentable condition. It had a touchscreen radio with Bluetooth, Apple car play, Android auto, an upgraded sound system, redone LED headlights, rear taillight guards, motor work, exhaust work, new carpet, and then little things like seat covers, custom red foot petals, red floor mats, theme matching cup holder interiors, extra cup holders (that also had theme matching cup holder interiors), etc.

I had spent SO MUCH money on this vehicle, besides just the payments. Then for people who called themselves my “friends” to absolutely destroy this vehicle and leave it with what my mechanic called “irreparable damage”… The damage is just at just a magnitude that he (and other mechanics) cannot even put a price tag on it…

The situation is so hurtful and upsetting… Who does this to someone? Who finds this acceptable to do to someone else’s property?

Will this stop me from renting my vehicles out again? No. It won’t. But I will do things very differently from this point on. One person has definitely made it much more difficult for everyone else…

This bridge is known as Cry Baby Bridge, and it's been blocked off for some years now. Tonight, a friend and I went to the bridge on a spur of the moment adventure.

When I took this photo, it looked very different. When I got home and looked through the several photos taken, this one looked entirely different, and for the life of me, I don't know why or how it changed.

To elaborate, the end of the bridge was pitch black. There were no lights whatsoever at the time this picture was taken. When reviewing the picture directly after taking it, the end of the bridge was still pitch black. Now, it appears as if there was a large fire burning at the end of the bridge. It's a beautiful shot, but it's hard to explain how it came out this way.

Don't get me wrong, I'm in no way complaining. The shot is phenomenal. It's just one of the strangest experiences I've ever experienced as a photographer. 📸

We do our jobs to make a living and we charge what we know we’re worth. We charge for our time, effort, and the work we have to put into every photo we take and edit. Photography isn’t an easy job. It’s not just “point and click”. It’s not just hoping that the photo comes out looking nice. It’s about having an eye to capture the right moments, having the equipment to capture them. You may not need the best equipment but you sure can’t do it with an iPhone 8+, I can tell you that.

We don’t want your limbs, your car, your house, or anything else. We just want to be paid for our services and for the work that we’ve done, for the effort we’ve put in. Our jobs take time and money. It’s not all fun and games. It’s not just some hobby that doesn’t cost anything. For those of us that do this professionally, it costs a fair amount. We simply want to be compensated fairly for that.

If you want to pay subpar prices then you can get subpar photos. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Simple as that.
