Max is the type of guy you immediately feel like you have been friends with forever when you first meet. Don’t get me wrong, he is a mad man - in the best way possible.
A hospitable, kind-hearted, and humble mad man whose mind is full of creative visions itching to make their way into reality… and he finds a way to make them happen. One has to be a bit crazy to be capable of such a task, let alone even dare to attempt it. From intricate hobbit doors with handmade mechanisms to massive metal chandeliers, he has a way of bringing the thousands of pounds of metal to life and inspiring those who get to witness the final product.
I truly had a wonderful time documenting some of Max’s process and I’m excited to share more photos. We talked about choosing unconventional pathways in life, the power of a good story, the torment of perfectionism, the difficulty of sticking to your vision in business, and the simple fulfillment of crafting with your hands and bringing an idea to life.
The last picture probably sums him up the best. Standing in front of his work bench he is describing an idea and you can tell because his face lights up with passion. Meanwhile, his soot covered hand animates his thoughts and cup of tea accompanies his other hand. Thank you for welcoming me into your studio Max. It was a pleasure.
