This is the third and final chapter of our anniversary archive for Arielle and Buddy at Ochre Court, and it might be my favorite truth to tell.

When you walk onto the grounds of a historic Newport mansion, the natural instinct for most is to tense up—to stand straight, smile on cue, and pose for the grandeur of the architecture.

But when you’ve spent five years and over ten sessions building an unshakeable creative trust, the architecture becomes secondary. The hundred-year-old limestone stops being an imposing backdrop and simply becomes a playground for your joy.

In this set, there were no rigid prompts.

There was only running across the great lawn until Arielle’s tiered dress caught the ocean wind.
There were breathless races, quiet forehead leans against the cold balustrade, and unprompted laughter that echoed off the stone.

That is the secret to enduring love: as the roots grow deeper and the foundation grows stronger, you don’t become more serious—you become lighter. You remember how to play.

To document a couple across their maternity, their milestones, and their quiet anniversaries is to watch their love shed its armor year after year.

I document across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and throughout New England, crafting multi-dimensional archives that blend the clarity of digital, the soulful grain of real 35mm film, and unscripted cinematic motion.

When you photograph two souls more than ten times over five years, the lens stops documenting. It starts praying. 🏛️🕊️

I first met Arielle and Buddy in 2021 for the maternity session of their firstborn son. From the moment they stepped in front of my camera, it felt like a collision orchestrated entirely by fate. We didn’t just connect—we fell into a rhythm that completely reshaped the way I understand my work.

Over the last five years and across more than ten sessions, I’ve watched their family grow, transition, and deepen. Along the way, they stopped being clients. They became family.

My son, Avery, has grown up alongside their sessions. The fierce, gentle way they have loved and embraced him over the years has moved my heart in ways words can never fully hold.

Earlier this year, while we were casually catching up and throwing ideas around for their upcoming anniversary shoot, the conversation drifted into something deeper. I shared a dream Avery had—one where God told him he needed to go to church. Without hesitation, Arielle opened her arms and invited us to hers. We went right before Easter, and that single invitation rekindled a spiritual home we have returned to every week since.

So when July arrived and we stepped onto the grounds of Salve Regina in Newport, this session was no longer just about marking an anniversary. It was a physical manifestation of divine poetry.

Underneath the towering stone of Ochre Court and the open ocean breeze, there were no forced poses or artificial directions. There was only the effortless, sacred flow of two people completely anchored in their faith, their history, and each other.

To witness a love this steady—and to be trusted to hold space for it year after year—is the highest honor of my life. 📜✨
