Once you’ve chosen what you’re wearing, use a complementary color as a starting point for Dad. Think coordinating rather than matching. Maybe he feels best in a light-colored button-down, or maybe he’s the one who brings a little more color to the family.

Most importantly, let him choose something he feels comfortable and confident in.

A few things to skip: large logos, graphic T-shirts, hats, and sunglasses. They can compete for attention in the photo and pull the focus away from the people.

Who are these photos are actually for. When you look at an old, grainy photo of a loved one, you don’t scrutinize their wrinkles, their weight, or whether they posed perfectly. You are simply grateful to have a photo of them. Your loved ones will view your photos with that exact same grace.

WHY do we keep putting them off?
Maybe it’s…
1. “My phone takes good enough pictures.”
2. The cost feels like a lot when you haven’t seen the finished product yet.
3. “We’ll do it next year.”
Except… the kids are growing now. And we’re aging, too.
4. You already have thousands of digital photos you never look at.
5. And maybe the biggest reason… being in front of the camera feels vulnerable.
