Meredith Washburn Photo with all the sparkler wisdom!
Sparkler exits:
1. Couples, walk SLOW. Night photography is a bit more challenging for our cameras, usually we’re using low shutter speed in order to get more light. Although our eyeballs have wonderful dynamic range, our cameras are limited with what they can capture with limited lighting. Walking slowly helps us to get you both IN FOCUS. If you’re running, you’re probably gonna be blurry 🙂. Also, if you have a videographer, this gives us both time to shoot without running into people or catch ourselves on fire 🔥😊!
2. Carry sparklers with you - these help to light up your faces and make for more dreamy images!
3. Have your guests stand close together and form a tighter tunnel. The brighter and closer people are, the better your images will be.
4. If your sparklers are still going when you get to the end, just wait it out and continue getting images until the lights fade. More images = better chance of getting something epic. Sometimes we use multiple cameras and different lenses which give us very different images.
5. Having a five hour reception and don’t want to pay your photographer for hours of unnecessary work? Have a sparkler photo during your first dance, or right after dinner, or even as an entrance into your reception if it’s dark already :). The possibilities are endless. We get it, you don’t need us there for five hours to capture dancing….and more dancing…..and more dancing. Switch it up and do your sparklers after dark, and then enter back inside to dance the night away.
6. Drinking a lot at your reception? Don’t do a sparkler exit 😂. No photographer wants to walk backwards down a tight line of drunk wedding guests holding fire potentially burning themselves or catching their hair on fire 🔥😂. Been there done that, scary, don’t want to do it again. Hahaha
7. Have fun, but remember to walk slowwwwww, take it in, and even stop in the middle for a bit to smooch and love on each other 😘
