The moments between.

Photography is an interesting art. I take hundreds of photos and always end up snapping moments that happen between the planned poses, perfect hand positions and beautiful smiles. These moments are sometimes the best pics I take and 90% of the time I don’t even remember taking them.

There’s something magical in the natural moments that just happen. The moments between the moments.

Shoutout to .i.122 and for letting me take these!

Transitions.

Transition shots are key and can really bring an edit to life. Though it may look silly, getting some crazy whip pans can really be a driving force for good edits.

VFX Breakdown – Turning a Problem into a Creative Win

I was hired to create a promo video for an upcoming event hosted by at Backroads Saloon.

The original concept? A jukebox that lets you ā€œselectā€ the song that plays behind the video.

There was just one issue…The jukebox was gone.

Instead of scrapping the idea, we pivoted.

With 10+ years of experience in video production and VFX, I knew we could recreate the same interactive concept using one of the slot machines in the venue. Different prop — same creative vision.

What you’re seeing in this breakdown is how we built the illusion from scratch.

VFX Process Included:
* 3D camera motion tracking to anchor digital elements into real footage
* Rotoscoping foreground objects for proper depth layering
* Designing and animating a custom ā€œjukeboxā€ menu synced to button presses
* Final compositing and color matching to make everything feel seamless

For projects like this, quality control matters just as much as creativity. All files were rendered in ProRes 4444 with alpha channels to preserve maximum quality throughout the compositing process.

Tools Used:
* DaVinci Resolve (editing)
* After Effects (3D tracking + animation)
* Photoshop (menu design + jukebox backgrounds)
* (music thumbnails)

Big projects aren’t about perfect conditions — they’re about creative problem-solving.

Huge shoutout to and for bringing everyone together. Great people. Great energy. Great result.

ā€œThe Peoples Openā€

I was the VFX artist on this project by Bad Birdie and here’s one of my favorite shot breakdowns!

Slide 1: Final Omposite
Slide 2: Footage Backplate
Slide 3: ā€œHeatstroke Effectā€ utilizing AI Depth Map and False Color effects in Davinci
Slide 4: Rotoscoped runner using After Effects
Slide 5: Rotoscoped Tunnel

One of my favorite parts is the effects used the exact code of colors that was incorporated in the apparel for the Bad Birdie Heatstroke swag.

Feeling blessed to be a small part in this project! Cant wait for more to come!

If only! 🤣

Just to clarify this effect doesn’t exist lol I designed the effect from scratch using a few techniques that gave me the end result that I’m super happy with. Check out the full real on Bad Birdies Insta.

Sometimes the effects look easy but in actuality it’s taken years of hard work, learning and dedication to get to a level where it feels easy. This project was awesome to work on and shoutout to for giving me the opportunity! More to come…we’re just getting started.
